Who Ranked as Florida State Football's Top Recruiter of 2026? cover image

One Seminoles assistant reeled in the most talent among his peers, which one national outlet dove into.

Recruiting isn't a one-man show, especially at Florida State

Yes, Mike Norvell will earn praise and take the heat if football recruits don't pan out. Especially the highly coveted ones who land in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

But while the head coach Norvell can sign off on scholarship offers, he needs his assistants to reel in the talent who look like gamechangers for the Seminoles. That includes landing the high school talents.

The national recruiting outlet 247Sports released the overall ranking and grades for each FSU assistant for their 2026 efforts on the trail. Does any single co-worker of Norvell land inside the top 25? Or even crack the top 30?

Here's who earned the title of highest ranked recruiter inside the FSU football office, plus other notable rankings.

Top Florida State Recruiter is Recently Elevated Assistant

Newly promoted offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. earns the top FSU recruiting ranking -- landing at No. 31 overall nationally by 247 but also placing sixth among Atlantic Coast Conference assistants.

Harris, a Miami native, pulled in six total talents at wide receiver. His top prospects were a pair of four-stars: Efrem White and Jasen Lopez -- the latter also giving FSU basketball a try as of January

While Harris won't be calling the plays (Norvell will handle play-calling duties). But the head coach can rest easy knowing he's got an impactful recruiter in Harris.

Defensive Assistant Not Far Behind

Defensive line coach Terrance Knighton landed the most recruits compared to Harris with eight signings.

Four of whom ranked as four-stars in Franklin Whitley, Jaemin Pinckney, Earnest Rankins and Jalen Anderson.

Knighton landed at No. 32 nationally behind Harris and seventh among ACC coaches.

Closest FSU Assistant Landed at 83rd Overall

Unfortunately Harris and Knighton were the only ones representing the top 40 out of Tallahassee.

Offensive line coach Herb Hand came in at No. 83 (No. 13 in the ACC) after reeling in seven trench commits -- but none were four stars.

Safeties coach Evan Cooper placed 126th overall and No. 24 in the conference for landing three players. Tight ends coach Chris Thomsen rated 194th (33rd among ACC assistants) by landing two recruits -- though one was four-star Xavier Tiller.
