The Georgia Bulldogs dominated yet again.
The Georgia Bulldogs were able to pull away in the second half over the Vanderbilt Commodores for yet another result in SEC play which wound up a whole lot more lopsided than folks may have expected before the year.
Defeating Vanderbilt 38-14 with a second half shutout, the Dawgs get to 5-0 including 3-0 in SEC play with the matchup in Tuscaloosa against the Alabama Crimson Tide looming for next week. With this being the first time Georgia was in any sort of close game at all, the team passed the test in the second half including a huge afternoon from Gunner Stockton, who may have just had his best game in a Bulldogs uniform.
Stockton finished the game completing 25 of his 32 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns without an interception, also adding another 22 yards on the ground. On the season, he has completed around 75 percent of his passes with 1,049 yards, 13 touchdowns and just one interception.
Looking extremely impressive with several deep passes down the field, this was certainly Stockton at his very best, and he is starting to see everything click in the passing game at a critical time for the team.
Georgia Once Again Spreads it Around on Offense
Ironically, the leading receiver for the team was Dwight Phillips Jr., who had five receptions for 75 yards on the day. No one else had more than three catches with 10 different Bulldogs catching at least one pass from Stockton.
On the ground, it was Phillips along with Bo Walker and Chauncey Bowens getting it done with Nate Frazier dressed but limited to just two carries, but it was the passing game for Georgia which led the day after Vanderbilt forced Stockton to beat them.
Stockton showed he was more than capable of doing just that, and as a result, it's another way the Bulldogs are able to handle opposing teams.
The identity of this Georgia team was always going to be running the ball and playing great defense, but perhaps Stockton deserves some more credit as well for the way he seems to be playing right now.
As the Dawgs prepare to hit the most important parts of their schedule, they do it with one of the best quarterbacks in the nation and one who can beat you in whatever way is needed on any given afternoon, both at home and on the road.
