The Georgia Bulldogs are going to try to keep the win streak going against Auburn.
The Georgia Bulldogs are headed into another edition of the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry where they will attempt to make it 10 straight wins over the Auburn Tigers in a game they have been on the right side of lately.
Georgia has defeated Auburn nine consecutive times and at home, the streak is even more impressive. Not since 2005 have the Tigers come into Athens and won, and this year on paper should not be any different with the Dawgs once again a significant favorite over Auburn. There are paths to victory for Auburn, but Georgia is the much better team here.
Here are the three keys for the Dawgs to ensure no upset is pulled at Sanford Stadium.
Continue Domination in the Trenches
In the victory over Alabama last week, Georgia was the better team on both lines of scrimmage, and if that's the case this week, the Tigers are not going to have much of a realistic chance. Getting the ground game going early while also not allowing the Auburn rushing attack a chance to do the same would make for a very long day.
Look for Georgia to be running the ball early and often, and if they are doing it with success, the Tigers are not gonna be close in this one.
Make Byrum Brown Throw the Ball
A massive part of the reason why Auburn has had a rough go of it this season to start the Alex Golesh era is his quarterback. Despite an extremely impressive career at South Florida, it has not translated to the SEC level to this point for Brown. The Tigers have not had any semblance of consistent success in the passing game, and Brown is struggling with accuracy badly.
If the Dawgs can shut the door on the Auburn running game and make Brown beat them with his arm, he has certainly not looked capable of doing that this season.
Avoid Slow Start off Huge Win
Every week in this sport, it seems like teams who are going off physical and emotional wins get off to a slow start the following week. With Auburn coming off a bye and Georgia coming off anything but a bye, the Tigers could get off to a quick start as the fresher football team.
The Dawgs must not let that happen and never let Auburn in the game, because the longer they hang around, the more likely an upset becomes. If Georgia can get off to a fast start, this game will be over by halftime.
