The Georgia Bulldogs may not be facing a significant test this week against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Georgia Bulldogs are headed west for their SEC opener this weekend against the Arkansas Razorbacks this weekend in a game that is not being looked at as a huge challenge.
While Kirby Smart is doing his best to remind the team that humility is only a week away if they overlook any opponent in the SEC, most around the country are expecting the Dawgs to go into Fayetteville and eat the Hogs for lunch. Things have not gone well for the first two weeks of the Ryan Silverfield era, and now this is a bigger challenge for Arkansas than they have faced yet.
While discussing the matchup on an Arkansas radio station, ESPN's Taylor McGregor kept it real when talking about the state of the Razorbacks roster as it relates to their chance in this game.
Arkansas Roster Does Not Have Stars, McGregor Said
"In year's past, even if they weren't winning consistently in the SEC, they still had stars," McGregor said, referencing that you could point to various Razorbacks players as future NFL draft picks in year's past. "It's hard to find that now. There just aren't as many stars."
McGregor is certainly spot in saying the Arkansas roster is not what it used to be in the first year of this new era, but that does not mean the Razorbacks aren't capable of beating anyone on their schedule on any given day.
Silverfield had a whole lot of success as the head coach at Memphis, and with a nobody believing in them mindset, that could be a dangerous thing for a program desperate for a big victory to get their season going and really this new era for the program going.
While the Razorbacks may not have a roster on paper in 2026 that matches up with Georgia, they are a couple of big plays away early in this one from turning it into a potential dogfight throughout the afternoon.
At the end of the day though, this is a team that the Bulldogs should be able to easily defeat, even if it's in a difficult environment that Arkansas fans are able to create.
This is the first opportunity for Georgia to prove that they are once again the team to beat in the SEC and are a national title contender, and time will tell how Kirby Smart and his team are able to approach the challenge the Razorbacks present.
