The Georgia Bulldogs could be about to lose this prospect to a hated rival.
The Georgia Bulldogs are 6-0 and absolutely rolling, coming off their biggest regular season win in years and the first in Tuscaloosa since 2007. As the team starts to come together on the field though, the staff is working hard to land the next generation of Dawgs stars.
When it comes to the class of 2027, Georgia did not have a great spring and while signing day is still months away, it looks like it will be a very average class on paper by Bulldogs standards under Kirby Smart. There is still some guys Smart is going after though, and one of them is a cornerback from within the state who was previously committed elsewhere.
Preston Glasco backed off his pledge to UConn and it seems like this has become a battle between Georgia and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Despite the fact that the Dawgs won in Tuscaloosa with Glasco in attendance, it seems the Tide are still the ones trending to land Glasco.
Glasco Trending Towards Alabama Ahead of Commitment
"I feel strongly about them," Glasco told On3 about Alabama. "They’ve made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process that I’ve known them...I’m just excited for whatever comes next."
Glasco says he is looking to make an announcement by the end of the month, and while Georgia is still in the equation here, coming off an official visit to Alabama, that timeline is certainly a little bit troubling here for the Bulldogs.
The Grayson High School standout is also entertaining pursuits from South Carolina and Tennessee, but this does look like a battle between Georgia and the Crimson Tide for his commitment as he has gotten off to a strong start in his senior season.
With both schools making him a priority, it's a legitimately difficult decision for the young cornerback and each are going to develop him at the highest level. Time will tell if the Dawgs can make another strong push here before any kind of announcement, but it does seem like Alabama is the team to beat here over the final weeks of his recruitment.
Glasco has all the makings of a late-rising prospect who is making some noise during his final year of high school and could be a future standout in this conference. If Georgia believes that is the case, they must do whatever it takes over the coming few weeks to make sure that he does not land in Tuscaloosa and instead joins the Bulldogs.
Right now though, that looks like a little bit of an uphill battle for Kirby Smart and the rest of this coaching staff.
