The Georgia Bulldogs could be on the cusp of seeing a major breakout from a former four-star tight end.
The Georgia Bulldogs are strapping up the pads this week for fall camp, which is the latest sign that the season is coming and coming fast. In just a few short weeks, the Bulldogs will be back on the field at Sanford Stadium and ready to navigate another season in Athens.
When fall camp takes place, it's the final chance for players to establish their role on the team before the season begins, something which gets a lot tougher after games actually start. One of the deepest groups not just on the roster but really in the nation is the tight end room, and there are three names who are set to make an impact.
The room is led by Lawson Luckie, but Ethan Barbour is set to be a part of things as well. Who's really generating a ton of buzz this spring though headed into the fall is redshirt sophomore and former top recruit Jaden Reddell. Rusty Mansell of UGA Sports shared some intel this week that Reddell is the guy who has people within the program absolutely ecstatic.
Reddell Ready for Massive Breakout Season
"I was told by a source Saturday that the message has essentially been, 'Get 23 the [expletive] ball,'" Mansell wrote. "Reddell is about to reintroduce himself to the country this season. Another guy who has waited his turn, Reddell has turned down a lot more money to stay in Athens. He has never wavered. He wants to be here. His time is now."
Though Reddell played in all 14 games last season, it was largely in a role of blocking and special teams with just one catch on the season. While that ability is of course an advantage and gets you on the field quicker, it's not what made him the No. 4 ranked tight end in the nation for the class of 2024.
Reddell has a special ability with the ball in his hands even though he has not really gotten the chance to show it just yet at Georgia, but this could be the year where he's able to do that. Going into a season in which the wide receiver room is being questioned by everyone, it could be the tight end room to pick up the slack with multiple significant contributors in the passing game.
If everything can keep coming together for Reddell the way it did in the spring, it seems like a very likely outcome that this is the year he's able to remind Bulldogs fans just how special of a player he can be.
