The Georgia Bulldogs are hosting two dynamic teammates from an elite defense in their huge recruiting weekend.
The Georgia Bulldogs have one of their biggest recruiting weekends of the year on campus this weekend, hosting the Kirby Smart Scavenger Hunt as they try to lock in on the class of 2027 and 2028.
Momentum has been slow out of the gate for the 2027 class, but a weekend in Athens with dozens of blue chippers all in the same place can be exactly what a program needs to jumpstart momentum.
While numerous high profile recruits are going to command a lot of the attention, it's a pair of four-star defenders who fans should be paying attention to this weekend. In a rare combination of two players from the same out of state defense, Vigor High School (Mobile, AL) star linebackers Isaac McNeil and JaBarrius Garror each arrive to campus in a heavy weekend at the position according to intel from Steve Wiltfong of Rivals and On3.
Georgia Would Love to Land Both McNeil and Garror
Both McNeil and Garror have become two of the highest pursued players in the region, each sitting just outside the top-100 in 247 Composite rankings in terms of best players in the nation.
Each are a top-five player in the state of Alabama as well, helping the Vigor Wolves make deep runs in each of the last two state playoffs and nearly taking them all the way.
As two key cogs of one of the best defenses in the state, McNeil and Garror have been being watched closely by coaches in the SEC for a good while now, but decision time is coming.
Can Georgia Land at Least One of the Pair?
Clearly, Smart is pushing hard to land some real linebacker help in 2027, and it feels like only a matter of time before he is able to do just that. As the Bulldogs heat up in the race for McNeil, so do their biggest rivals in the Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, and Alabama Crimson Tide.
Garror's recruitment is a little bit more of a mystery, with teams like Texas A&M, Texas and Florida State as well as Auburn involved in the pursuit against Georgia.
Getting both McNeil and Garror as a package deal would be a dream scenario, but it does feel like both are still a little ways away from being ready to make an actual commitment at this stage.
Still, you can never know during Kirby Smart Scavenger Hunt weekend, and the chances that something big could be coming always exists in Athens.
