There is always a lot of movement from the Associated Press Top-25 college basketball preseason poll and the one that comes out after the first week of games. It's no different this year, and it starts at the top.

Preseason No. 1 Purdue dropped a spot to No. 2, with Houston moving up to No. 1. Purdue had more first-place votes — 36 to Houston's 18 — but the Cougars had more points, 1,462 to 1,459. Four other teams — Connecticut (3), Duke (2), Michigan (1) and Alabama (1) also received first-place votes.

Only four of the 25 spots went unchanged.

Purdue won both games last week, but struggled for much of its game against Oakland before winning 87-77 on Friday night. Houston went 2-0 as well, beating Lehigh by 18 and Towson by 17.

Connecticut moved up one spot to No. 1, Duke jumped two spots to No. 4 and Arizona made the biggest jump of the week, moving from No. 12 to No. 5 after beating defending champion Florida.
