"We Truly Don't Run Plays"

Brad Underwood said that the Fighting Illini offense has evolved to the point where they "truly don't run plays," a surprising statement considering the relative youth on his team with David Mirkovic still battling health issues.

The Fighting Illini also have offensive and defensive coordinators, which Underwood noted is similar to a football team.

Illinois seems content to put the power to sink or swim in its players' hands out on the court, an approach that is big on freedom but could have its own limitations.

With freshmen Quentin Coleman and Ethan Brown in the starting lineup, Illinois will be tested by opposing defenses. Through it all, most fans still expect a top ten or better offense nationally.

Buckle up, tomorrow night's opener should be a fun one.
