Illinois basketball is preparing for one of its biggest recruiting weekends yet under Brad Underwood.

The Illini are set to host four five-star prospects in Champaign this weekend, bringing together two of the top prospects in the 2027 class and two elite names from the 2028 class.

The group includes Darius Wabbington, Moussa Kamissoko, Bentley Lusakueno and Dylan Betts, giving Illinois a chance to make an impression on four players who could shape the program's future.

And the weekend got even more interesting when Wabbington moved his visit up more than a month.

The biggest development came Tuesday, September 15, when five-star center Darius Wabbington told Rivals that he moved his official visit to Illinois up to this weekend.

The 6-foot-11 senior from Sunnyslope High School in Arizona was originally scheduled to visit Champaign from October 23-25.

Now, he'll be on campus much sooner.

Wabbington is ranked among the nation's top prospects in the 2027 class and is considered one of the top centers in the country. He's also a particularly intriguing fit for Illinois because of his versatility.

The big man isn't limited to playing around the rim. Wabbington has shown the ability to shoot from the perimeter, facilitate, score in the post and operate in multiple offensive styles.

He averaged 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game as a junior, while also shooting above 38 percent from three on the adidas 3SSB Circuit this summer.

Wabbington has already taken an official visit to Indiana and is scheduled to visit Arizona, North Carolina and Texas later in his recruitment.

For Illinois, though, getting him to Champaign earlier than originally planned is a significant opportunity, particularly as the Illini continue to look toward the future of their frontcourt.

Joining Wabbington in the 2027 class is Moussa Kamissoko, a five-star wing who is ranked No. 19 overall by 247Sports according to the visit information.

Kamissoko stands around 6-foot-7 with a reported 6-foot-11 wingspan, giving Illinois another long, versatile perimeter prospect to evaluate.

Playing for PSA Cardinals on the Nike EYBL circuit, Kamissoko averaged 16.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from three.

His appeal goes beyond scoring.

Kamissoko has shown the ability to attack closeouts, finish through contact, facilitate and defend multiple positions. His length and motor also make him a particularly intriguing defensive prospect.

Illinois offered Kamissoko in May, and his official visit gives the Illini another opportunity to build on that relationship as his recruitment develops.

Then there's Bentley Lusakueno, one of the premier prospects in the 2028 class.

The 6-foot-9 forward is scheduled for an official visit to Illinois on September 19. He's ranked inside the national top 10 by several recruiting services, including No. 6 nationally in the 247Sports rankings referenced in recent coverage.

Lusakueno brings positional size and legitimate shooting ability to the table.

He recently transferred to IMG Academy and has already scheduled official visits to Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Iowa in addition to Illinois.

For the Illini, this is another chance to establish a relationship with an elite 2028 prospect relatively early in his recruitment.

And Illinois isn't stopping there.

Five-star 2028 center Dylan Betts is also expected in Champaign this weekend for an unofficial visit, which he announced as part of a September visit schedule that also includes Michigan and North Carolina.

At roughly 7-foot-3, Betts is one of the most intriguing young big men in the country.

He played for IMG Academy and averaged 12.5 points per game while shooting 54.2 percent from the field on the Nike EYBL circuit this past summer.

Illinois offered Betts back in June, and this weekend will give the staff another opportunity to develop that relationship with one of the country's premier young centers.

Four five-star prospects. Two recruiting classes. And all of them on the same campus. That's what makes this weekend particularly notable for Illinois.

The Illini have already secured commitments from Quinton Kitt and Mason Martin in the 2027 class, but Underwood and his staff are clearly continuing to swing for elite talent.

Now, Illinois has a chance to host four of the country's top prospects at once, including two 2027 targets who could directly impact the next wave of the roster and two 2028 prospects the program is building relationships with well ahead of time.

There are no commitments to announce this weekend.

But for Illinois basketball, this is another opportunity to show some of the best players in the country what the next era in Champaign can look like.
