Illinois' exhibition game led to several players getting nicked up as the Fighting Illini lost to Baylor.
The Baylor Bears took the fight to the Illinois Fighting Illini in exhibition game number two at State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill. on Friday, resulting in a 95-91 Bears win.
Illinois star forward and preseason All-American David Mirkovic showed up with a medical boot on his injured left foot, which required surgery this offseason, and a rolling mini-scooter as fans wondered about his status.
Coach Brad Underwood updated the Illinois faithful after the game, making statements on Mirkovic and other players that will loom large heading into the season opener.

Underwood gave a series of injury updates after the game, which he prefaced by saying he hadn't talked to a doctor yet about them.
"Tommy (Tomislav Ivisic) dinged his knee, I think Andrej (Stojakovic) and Z (Zvonimir Ivisic) both hit their heads on the floor, so, we'll see. Nice to have Jason Jakstys, and Landon (Davis, as backups)," Underwood continued.
"Those guys competed and did a nice job."
Freshman guard Quentin Coleman was the story of the night on the court with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Stefan Vaaks led in assists with five.
The big story off the court was the presence of Preseason AP First-Team All-American David Mirkovic, who looked a ways off from returning as he sat in a chair on the sideline with his walking boot and mini-scooter.
Underwood Expects Mirkovic to Miss Games
Underwood expects Mirkovic to miss games based on his post-Baylor exhibition comments, while also squashing a prevailing theory from courtside observers.
"No setback," Underwood said when asked if Mirkovic's injury got worse.
"It's all about making sure that the scans show that everything is correct, the screw's terrific, it's fine, it's in place. It's just the extra time to make sure that that fully heals," the Illini coach added.
"We went through this a while back with one of our players, everybody heals differently and goes through the process, but he's in great spirits, and we'll see what the timeline is," he added.
"Well I think so," Underwood curtly said in response to a question about whether or not the Illini star power forward will miss games.
The Fighting Illini star Mirkovic had been targeting Nov. 2's regular season home opener against the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights, but plans appear to have changed, despite Underwood's assertion that there haven't been any injury setbacks.
Illinois has enough firepower to run the Knights out of the gym without Mirkovic, but the disappointment on his face was tangible as fans continued to send him well wishes at the State Farm Center in Champaign.
