The Illinois Fighting Illini's tough luck in the injury department continued after their Week 8 win.

Illinois coach Bret Bielema, his players and coaches are feeling good about their work on the football field after a 21-10 win over Big Ten and national powerhouse Oregon, but bad news has started to come out of Champaign, Ill. on the injury front yet again.

Bielema shared a series of injury updates following the game that included a surgery-related update, a broken foot injury, and another injury setback to a player the team has hoped would make a comeback since the beginning of the season.

The injury updates came with the Illini preparing to head to College Park, Maryland to take on the Terrapins.

Backup Linebacker Beerman Out for Season

Illinois backup linebacker Grant Beerman was included among three injury updates from the Illini head coach. Beerman broke his foot against the Ducks and is out for the year, Bielema said.

The 6-foot-5, 240 pound linebacker from West Chester, Ohio is in his second season with Illinois and has 13 tackles so far, five solo and eight assisted.

Beerman, a sophomore, has shown promise on new defensive coordinator Roger Cooper's unit, but the Illini will have to move on without him after the tough-luck injury news.

Platt Has Injury Setback

Former Florida Atlantic star and offseason transfer Jayshon Platt has been one of the biggest X-factors, and enigmas, on the Illini as he was talked up by Bielema, offensive coordinator Barry Lunney Jr., quarterback Katin Houser and others headed into the season but has yet to make his official Fighting Illini debut.

Platt appeared to be a shoo-in for the Oregon game after resting up following the bye week and getting back into a groove in subsequent practices, but he reportedly has had an injury setback that prevented him from playing.

"Jayshon Platt had a setback last week in practice. Don't know if he'll be back with us this week or next week," Bielema said according to Scott Richey of The News-Gazette of Champaign.

Pritchard Has Shoulder Surgery

Offensive lineman Kai Pritchard was also cited by Bielema as dealing with a major injury issues. Pritchard, a freshman backup and former four-star recruit, reportedly had a labral tear and is expected to miss the rest of the season.

The injury setbacks come at a tough time with Illinois heading into the meat of its Big Ten schedule. They will give Bielema and his staff more chances to evaluate young players and backups as they continue to push toward bowl eligibility.

Illinois has five games left on its schedule, including road trips to No. 7 UCLA and No. 20 Northwestern.
