Josh Hoover and Nick Marsh ignited an explosive passing attack while a relentless defensive front tallied five sacks to stifle a late Cornhusker rally at Memorial Stadium.
In a hard fought Big Ten showdown at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, the Indiana Hoosiers managed to escape with a tight 20–17 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. It was a grueling contest where momentum swung back and forth, but Indiana found a way to make crucial plays when the game was on the line to secure the three point win.
Marsh and Hoover Drive Big Plays for Indiana
Quarterback Josh Hoover led the passing attack for the Hoosiers, finishing with 263 passing yards and two touchdown passes. His primary target throughout the day was wide receiver Nick Marsh, who put together a monster performance on the outside. Marsh hauled in six receptions for an incredible 187 receiving yards and caught both of Indiana's touchdown passes, including a massive 75 yard score that flipped the momentum in Indiana's favor.
Despite struggling to establish a consistent ground game, averaging just 1.3 yards per carry as a team, Indiana made their explosive plays count through the air. Kicker Nico Radicic provided essential scoring support, going a perfect 2 for 2 on field goal attempts with a long of 42 yards and making both of his point after tries.
Defensive Front Holds Off Cornhusker Rally
Nebraska pushed hard down the stretch behind quarterback Anthony Colandrea, who threw for 278 yards while adding a rushing touchdown on 17 carries. Wide receiver Jacory Barney Jr. was Colandrea's go-to option, racking up nine catches for 123 yards, while tight end Luke Lindenmeyer chipped in seven receptions for 53 yards. The Cornhuskers controlled the clock for nearly 40 minutes of total possession and ran 83 plays compared to Indiana's 44, keeping pressure on the Hoosiers throughout the afternoon.
However, the Indiana defense stepped up during critical moments to protect the lead. Defensive back Jamari Sharpe delivered one of the game's biggest defensive highlights by recording a key interception to stop a Nebraska drive. Up front, Indiana racked up five sacks on Colandrea, led by defender Stephen Daley who notched two sacks and two tackles for loss. Byron Baldwin Jr., Joshua Burnham, and Tobi Osunsanmi each recorded a sack as well, continually disrupting Nebraska's rhythm in third down situations.
A Statement Victory on the Road
Winning on the road in a hostile environment like Memorial Stadium is never easy, especially when dominated in time of possession and total offensive snaps. Nebraska made a relentless push in front of their home crowd, but Indiana showed the grit and resilience necessary for big conference victories. By leaning on clutch defensive stops and timely big plays from Hoover and Marsh, the Hoosiers proved they can withstand adversity and close out high pressure games when everything is on the line.
