Indiana snapped a four-game losing streak with an impressive 82-59 victory at Rutgers on Friday night. The Hoosiers had three players score over 20 points in a Big Ten game for the first time in eight years.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — After scuffling for two weeks through four straight losses, Indiana finally got its act together on Friday night. The Hoosiers played well from start to finish — which hasn't happened very often this season — making 15 three-pointers to blow out Rutgers 82-59 at Jersey Mike's Arena.

For the first time in eight-plus years, the Hoosiers had three guys go over 20 points. Lamar Wilkerson had 27 points, Nick Dorn 23 and Tucker DeVries as the Hoosiers raised their record to 13-7 overall and 4-5 in the Big Ten.

Rutgers is 9-11 overall and 2-7 in the league. They aren't very good, but the Hoosiers will take the win all the same. They really needed it after ugly-looking losses to Nebraska, Michigan State, Iowa and Michigan.

Really, really bad.

“I thought our guys had a really good understanding of what we were trying to do, because we were pretty intentional with trying to get some guys going tonight,” Indiana coach Darian DeVries said after the game.  “I thought Tucker, Nick, Lamar, they all were able to find some space.

"I thought the guys did a really good job of finding them during those moments during the game too, when they had to go a little bit. So it was good for us to break out, it was a lot of fun to watch them out there playing.”

Dorn, who is in the starting lineup now with Tayton Conerway fighting through an ankle injury, made six three-pointers. Wilkerson made five and DeVries had four. The trio took 48 of Indiana's 60 shots.

It's the 13th time in 20 games that the Hoosiers have made double-digit threes. It's the most threes in a Big Ten road game since 2012, when they made 16 against Penn State. It's the third time they've made 15 or more, with the high-water mark 17 against Penn State in the Big Ten home opener in December.

Dorn has played a big role lately for the Hoosiers, finally getting comfortable after missing all summer and much of the fall after foot surgery. He played a season-high 36 minutes on Friday, and in the past five games, he has averaged 26.4 minutes per game. He's 15-of-32 from three during that stretch, a whopping 46.9 percent

He's given the Hoosiers a big boost, and will likely continue to do so during the final six weeks of the regular season.

“Just every day, my teammates are believing in me,” Dorn said after the win.“I saw some of the early ones go down, and it just made me confident, especially at the free throw line seeing some go down. Just staying consistent through it all.”

Indiana scored 47 first-half points and never trailed in the game. They had a double-digit lead within eight minutes, and Rutgers never got closer than seven points. The Hoosiers had a 15-point lead at halftime.

Indiana has struggled all year with bad second-half stretches, but that didn't happen on Friday night. Rutgers never got closer than 12 points. It was Indiana's first win at Rutgers since 2018.

"We've had a couple of games here recently were we've really struggled to get out of the gate in a strong way, but I thought tonight the guys did a great job tonight with their actions,'' DeVries said. "I thought their cutting was much crisper and cleaner tonight, and we were able to keep them hot.

"Our ability to take care of the ball was good, too. Only one turnover at the half, and five for the game, that's a good night. Do that and you're going to give yourself a chance most nights.''

It was just the third time since 1997 that Indiana had five or fewer turnovers in a true road game. It was their fewest total since four at Northwestern in 2015. Indiana's fifth turnover on Friday was a shot-clock violation at the end of the game when they were holding the ball as the clock was winding down.

Next up for the Hoosiers is a huge showdown with in-state rival Purdue on Tuesday night at Assembly Hall. The game is at 9 p.m. ET on Peacock.
