WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Indiana and Purdue get together for the final time in the regular season on Friday night, matching up at Mackey Arena in a nationally televised game. It's always a big game, and this one is critical for both teams, as you would expect.
No. 7 Purdue is coming off a tough home loss to No. 1 Michigan on Tuesday, where they trailed by 20 points or more before losing 91-80 to fall three games behind in the Big Ten race.
Indiana got roughed up in its last meeting, too, falling 71-51 at No. 8 Illinois last Sunday. Both teams are desperate to get things fixed. The Boilermakers are looking to remain a high seed in the NCAA Tournament, and the Hoosiers are just looking to get invited. They seem to be in the field right now, but a win Friday night would make them a virtual lock.
Here's how to watch Friday's nationally televised game:
Who: Indiana Hoosiers (17-9, 8-7 in Big Ten) at No. 7 Purdue Boilermakers (21-5, 11-4 in Big Ten).
What: Big Ten conference regular season game.
When: Friday, Feb. 20, 8 p.m. ET.
Where: Mackey Arena, West Lafayette, Ind.
TV: FOX — Gus Johnson (play-by-play), Steve Smith (analyst), Allison Williams (sideline).
Radio: IU Radio Network — Don Fischer (play-by-play), Errek Suhr (analyst), John Herrick
Point spread: Purdue is an 11.5-point favorite over Indiana, and the over/under is 148.5 points, according to the Fanduel.com gambling website.
Series history: Purdue leads the series 126-94. The Boilermakers have won 16 of the last 22 contests dating to the 2013-14 season. However, Indiana is 5-4 against the Boilermakers in the last nine meetings back to the 2021-22 season.
Last meeting: Indiana earned the first signature win of the Darian DeVries era with a 72-67 victory over Purdue on Jan. 27, 2026, in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Senior guard Lamar Wilkerson (19 points) and junior guard Nick Dorn (18) combined for 37 points and six made 3-pointers in the win.
1. HOME AND HOME SERIES: When the Big Ten expanded to 18 teams two years ago, it made scheduling very difficult. Each school only has three home-and-home series now and, thankfully, the Indiana-Purdue rivalry has been protected — at least so far. Indiana faces Purdue, Michigan State and Minnesota this year, and Purdue gets the Hoosiers, Iowa and Wisconsin. According to BracketMatrix.com, Purdue is the only big Ten school to get paired with three likely NCAA Tournament teams.
2. INDIANA'S RECENT SUCCESS: Four times in the past five years, Purdue has been ranked No. 1 in the country at some point in the season. They've been the better in-state team since 2021, winning 137 games to Indiana's 99. But in the last 10 head-to-head matchups, they're tied at 5-5, with Indiana winning the last two. Purdue had won nine straight in the series before that.
3. WINS HARD TO COME BY AT MACKEY: Indiana is just 1-9 in their last 10 trips to Mackey Arena, with the only win coming on Feb. 25, 2023 when then-freshman Jalen Hood-Schifino erupted for 35 points in the Hoosiers' upset 79-71 victory. Hood-Schifino's epic night vastly improved his draft stock, and he decided to turn pro after just one year in Bloomington. In retrospect, that might have turned out to be a mistake. The first-round pick of Los Angeles Lakers in 2023 has only played in 36 NBA games, scoring 140 career points.
