BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The bitter in-state rivalry between Purdue and Indiana resumes on Tuesday night at Assembly Hall, and the two teams couldn't be more different.

The Boilermakers are led by coach Matt Painter, who's been the head coach there for two decades. His team is led by seniors Braden Smith, Fletcher Loyer and Trey Kaufman-Renn, who had played their entire college careers at one school.

Indiana is the polar opposite.

The Hoosiers are led by first-year coach Darian DeVries, who's very new to the rivalry, obviously. So are all 13 of his players, who all came to Bloomington from other places.

But it still says Indiana and Purdue on the front of the jerseys, which makes it a big deal. It should be a fun night at Assembly Hall for those that can brave the elements. There will also be a celebration of Indiana's football national championship team, which will make for a memorable night as well.

Here's how to watch Tuesday's game, along with three newsy nuggets on Purdue.

3 things to know about Purdue#

1. RARE LOSING STREAK FOR PURDUE: After starting the season 17-1, Purdue heads to Bloomington on a two-game losing streak, falling at UCLA last week and then losing at home to Illinois on Saturday. The Boilermakers did have a longer losing streak a year ago in their 24-12 season that included a trip to the Sweet 16. They lost four in a row from Feb. 11 to Feb. 23, losing to No. 20 Michigan, No. 16 Wisconsin, No. 14 Michigan State and unranked Indiana.

2. BRADEN SMITH SETTING RECORDS: Purdue point guard Braden Smith moved up to No. 12 on the NCAA all-time assists list on Saturday with 943 career assists, and could move into the top-10 on Tuesday with seven or more assists. The Big Ten's all-time assists leader is trying to track down Bobby Hurley of Duke, who is No. 1 with 1,076 assists. The senior from Westfield, Ind., was not recruited out of high school by former Indiana coach Archie Miller, who didn't consider him a Division I player.

PURDUE'S TOUGH SCHEDULE: Despite two straight losses, Purdue still owns the third-most quad-1 wins in the country with six. Only Duke and Arizona have more, with eight. Purdue's 15 wins in the first three quads are the second-most nationally behind Michigan (16). Purdue's two quad-4 games played are tied for the fewest in the country (Michigan, Boise State, Alabama). Against Indiana, Purdue will be playing its fifth straight quad-1 game. The Boilermakers currently have seven quad-1 games left with 11 games to play.  Indiana doesn't have a single quad-1 win this year.  They are 0-6 in quad-1 games.
