EAST LANSING, Mich. – Indiana hits the road on Tuesday to face a Michigan State team that has lost three of its last five games.

The Spartans are tied for eighth place in the Big Ten and projected as a No. 8 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Tuesday's game will be the second matchup between Indiana and Michigan State, with the Hoosiers claiming an 82-69 win on Jan. 22.

Michigan State is 10-2 at the Breslin Center this season, losing to Northwestern and Purdue.

  • Associated Press poll: Indiana dropped three spots to No. 17 in this week's poll. The Hoosiers have been ranked in 13 of the 16 polls this season, peaking at No. 10. Michigan State remains unranked for the 12th week in a row. The Spartans peaked at No. 12 on Nov. 21.
  • KenPom rankings: Indiana is No. 20 overall in the KenPom rankings as of Monday night. The Hoosiers are No. 35 in adjusted defensive efficiency and No. 25 in adjusted offensive efficiency. Michigan State is ranked No. 35 overall, No. 27 in adjusted defensive efficiency and No. 75 in adjusted offensive efficiency.
  • Last three games: Indiana defeated Illinois 71-68 on Saturday, lost 64-62 at Northwestern on Wednesday and won 62-61 at Michigan on Feb. 11. Michigan State lost 84-72 at Michigan on Saturday, won 62-41 at Ohio State on Feb. 12 and won 63-58 at home against Maryland on Feb. 7.
  • Home and road trends: Indiana is 14-1 at home and 4-6 in true road games. Michigan State is 10-2 at home and 3-5 in true road games.

  • Series history: Indiana leads the all-time series, 71-58. It's an even 5-5 split in the last 10 games, and Michigan State leads the series 24-16 since 2000. The Spartans are 23-2 at the Breslin Center against Indiana dating back to the 1991-92 season. The last time a ranked Indiana team played Michigan State was on Feb. 19, 2013 when the No. 1 Hoosiers won 72-68 at Michigan State behind 19 points from Victor Oladipo. Mike Woodson averaged 21.4 points in eight games against Michigan State.
  • Last meeting: Indiana defeated Michigan State 82-69 on Jan. 22, 2023 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind. It was a monster day for Trayce Jackson-Davis, who scored 31 points with 15 rebounds, five blocks and four assists. Trey Galloway and Tamar Bates each scored 17 points, combining to knock down 8-of-9 3-point attempts. Joey Hauser led the Spartans with 22 points, and Jaden Akins added 15. This was the third victory in what became a five-game win streak for Indiana in the last two weeks of January.
