ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Coach Tom Allen and the Indiana Hoosiers are playing in their second straight Big Ten road game on Saturday, as they head north to Ann Arbor to take on coach Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines.
Indiana is coming off a bye week, but before that, the Hoosiers suffered a 44-17 defeat at the hands of the Maryland Terrapins, which dropped IU to 2-3 on the season. Michigan, meanwhile, is 6-0 and ranked as the No. 2 team in the country in the AP top-25 poll.
The Wolverines have won back-to-back Big Ten titles under Harbaugh, and they have not lost in a regular season game since October of 2021. With the dynamic backfield pairing of quarterback J.J. McCarthy and running back Blake Corum, along with a defense that's littered with NFL talent, Michigan is quite possibly the best team Indiana will face this season.

- Point spread: Michigan is a 33.5-point favorite, and the over/under is set at 45.5 points, according to the SI Sportsbook on Friday afternoon.
- Season totals: Before Week 1, Indiana's 2023 regular season win total over/under was 3.5, according to the FanDuel Sportsbook. For Michigan, its regular season win total over/under was set at 11.5.
- Last season's records: Indiana went 4-8 overall and 2-7 in Big Ten play, with wins over Illinois, Idaho, Western Kentucky and Michigan State. Michigan went 13-1 overall and 9-0 in Big Ten play before beating Purdue in the Big Ten Championship. The Wolverines had a spotless record through the entire regular season and entered the College Football Playoff ranked at No. 2 in the country, before falling in the semifinal against TCU.
- Series history: Indiana leads the all-time series 61-10. The teams first met in 1900, when Michigan won by a score of 12-0. Indiana got its first ever win against Michigan in 1928, and the Hoosiers have never beaten Michigan more than two times in a row. Coach Tom Allen led IU to its first win against Michigan since 1987 when Indiana beat Harbaugh and the Wolverines 38-21 in the 2020 season.
- Last meeting: Michigan defeated Indiana 31-10 on Oct. 8, 2022, inside Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Ind. The game was tied 10-10 at the half, keeping with a longstanding tradition of Allen's IU teams pestering Michigan under Harbaugh and always keeping the score closer than one might expect. The Wolverines, however, were too talented for the Hoosiers, and outscored Indiana 21-0 in the second half.
