BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The Big Ten postseason awards were announced Tuesday afternoon.
Indiana women’s basketball’s Mackenzie Holmes and Sara Scalia were consensus picks for the All-Big Ten First Team. Holmes was chosen unanimously by the coaches and the media. Chloe Moore-McNeil picked up consensus All-Big Ten Second Team honors and was named to the All-Defensive Team by the coaches — but not by the media — while Holmes was consensus.
Holmes leads the Big Ten in field goal percentage (67%) and is second in average scoring to Iowa's Caitlin Clark, with 20.7 points per game. She also has the fourth-most blocks in the conference. Meanwhile, Scalia has posted the second-best 3-point percentage in the Big Ten (43.8%). With 91 3-pointers, Scalia cleared the Indiana single-season record by 13 — with more room to go.
Moore-McNeil leads Indiana with 136 assists, which ranks eighth in the conference. She had Indiana’s first triple-double in three years in the beginning of February. Sophomore Yarden Garzon — the former All-Big Ten Second Team member — was named an honorable mention for both teams by the media and coaches. She leads the Big Ten in 3-point percentage at 45.5%
Fellow sophomore Lexus Bargesser was Indiana’s Sportsmanship Honoree.
The Hoosiers play Friday night in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament.
