Indiana returns home this weekend for a homecoming matchup against Michigan State (3-3, 0-3 Big Ten). The Spartans are on a three-game losing streak to start Big Ten play while the Hoosiers will look to remain unbeaten in 2025.

Here’s what second-year Michigan State coach Jonathan Smith had to say on Monday in regards to the matchup.

On Indiana Quarterback Fernando Mendoza

“He's playing at a really high level. Quick release, good decision-maker, willing to run the ball. I think on offense, they've got both schemes of it — they can run it, they can throw it, physical up front, good receiver play. And that helps Mendoza, and he’s a competitive kid.”

On Indiana’s Turnaround Under Curt Cignetti

“It's been impressive. … Two back-to-back road wins for them at tough places. (They’re) complete in regards to offense can beat you, defense can beat you. They're challenging, even on punts. … So they've done a really nice job and they're one of the best teams in the country.”
