Teri Moren secures a generational, positionless talent as this historic commitment signals the program’s evolution into a premier destination for the nation's most elite blue-chip recruits.

Indiana women's basketball landed a landmark commitment as five star prospect Azy Jackson pledged her future to head coach Teri Moren and the Hoosiers. Ranked No. 20 nationally in the 2027 class by ESPN, the 6 foot 4 Jackson chose Bloomington over top programs including USC, Kansas, Cal, and North Carolina. Her decision instantly becomes the highest ranked commitment in the history of the Indiana women's basketball program.

Jackson, who stars for Bonney Lake High School in Washington, represents a generational talent on the floor. Possessing a 6-7 wingspan, she is described by scouts as a true positionless unicorn who can play and defend every spot on the floor. During her junior campaign, Jackson averaged 14.6 points and 14.8 rebounds per game while displaying elite ball handling, elite rim protection, and transition playmaking. Despite recovering from a knee injury suffered over the summer that will sideline her for her senior high school season, Jackson plans to enroll early at Indiana during the spring semester to rehab with the team before making her full collegiate debut in the 2027-28 season.

What Azy Jackson Means for the Hoosiers

For Teri Moren and the Indiana staff, landing Jackson is a clear statement that Bloomington remains a primary destination for the country's ultimate recruits. Moren has spent a decade building Indiana into a Big Ten powerhouse and a regular March Madness contender, but securing a consensus five star top 20 talent signals an elevation from a consistent winner to an elite destination for blue chip talent.

Schematically, Jackson fits Moren's system like a glove. Indiana’s offensive philosophy relies heavily on multi dimensional, high basketball IQ players who can push the pace, set screens, attack off ball screens, and stretch the floor. A 6-4 player who can handle the ball like a point guard while dominating the glass gives Indiana an unmatched tactical weapon. Defensively, Jackson's length and athleticism allow her to guard quick perimeter wings or anchor the paint as a formidable shot blocker.

Furthermore, Jackson’s commitment cements what is shaping up to be an extraordinary 2027 recruiting class. She joins fellow blue chip commitments in four star guard Brookeslee Colvin and four star forward Finley Parker. With Jackson in the fold, Indiana boasts three top 75 prospects in the class, providing the program with a deep, highly skilled core that can contend for Big Ten titles and Final Four runs for years to come.

Jackson noted that the genuine connections with the coaching staff and the tight knit campus atmosphere made Indiana feel like home. That culture, combined with elite talent acquisition, keeps the Hoosiers firmly among the nation's elite.
