BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The three-point line became a thing in college basketball for the 1986-87 season, and Indiana legend Steve Alford — who was a senior then — took full advantage of it.
He made 107 threes that year in just 202 attempts, a whopping 53 percent clip. Both the total threes and shooting percentage remain school records, nearly 40 years later.
Alford made 54 threes in Big Ten games that year, but that record fell by the wayside on Friday night in Indiana's 93-64 loss at Purdue. Senior Lamar Wilkerson made two three-pointers, giving him 55 in conference play this season, passing Alford's mark

He has scored 571 points already this season has made 88 three-pointers in all games. He needs 20 more to pass Alford. Indiana has four regular-season games left, followed by the Big Ten Tournament, and whatever postseason games come Indiana's way.
Wilkerson is already No. 30 on Indiana's list for single-season points, and he'll be moving up every game now. Here's the list of top single-season scorers in Indiana history.
