Indiana's highly-touted freshman forward Trent Sisley will be back for his sophomore season, according to reports. It silences fan speculation about whether he would return and has him preparing for a potentially expanded role with the Hoosiers.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The first posteason piece of Indiana basketball roster news came out on Tuesday when Joe Tipton of On3 reported that Indiana freshman forward Trent Sisley will return to the program for the 2026-27 season.  of On3.

Tipton shared Sisley’s plans to return on social media early Tuesday morning.

Sisley, a 6-foot-8 Indiana native, came off the bench in 30 games during the 2025-26 season. He played a good bit early in the season, and on Jan. 31 he played 15 minutes in the Hoosiers' big road win at UCLA.

But since then through the end of the season, he only played 34 minutes and scored just seven points. As Indiana's one key in-state recruit, his lack of playing time created a lot of discussion among fans as to what his status might be going forward. Tuesday's news erased all that concern.

Sisley played three seasons at Heritage Hills High School, scoring a school-record 1,715 career points in his freshman-through-junior seasons. He opted for the prep school route for his senior year, transferring to Montverde Academy in Florida.

At Indiana, Sisley averaged 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 13.1 minutes per game He shot 43 percent from the field, 53.8 percent from the free-throw line and 27.1 percent on 3-pointers.

Sisley has three seasons of eligibility remaining and should see more playing time now that Tucker DeVries is out of eligibility. They played the same position, and head coach Darian DeVries rarely played the two of them together, especially in the last half of the season.
