Brock Purdy ignited the undefeated 49ers with four touchdowns, Breece Hall faced an injury scare, and David Montgomery continues to struggle to gain traction for the winless Texans.

Time has been flying as we are now heading into Week 4 of the NFL season. Week 3 was a week of close wins and major upsets, with some up-and-down performances for some former Iowa State football stars.

So, in case you missed it, here is how some of your favorite former Cyclones performed in Week 3:

Brock Purdy (QB, San Francisco 49ers)

Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers took on the Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday, and in this game Purdy completed 15/27 (55.56%) of his passes, throwing for 297 passing yards and four touchdowns, with one of them being an 80-yard score off a hook-and-lateral play to Deebo Samuel. He also carried the ball twice for 34 rushing yards to lead a red-hot 49ers team to a 36-30 triumph over the Cardinals and a 3-0 start.

Breece Hall (RB, New York Jets)

Breece Hall and the New York Jets faced the Detroit Lions on Sunday after narrowly falling to Green Bay in their home opener.

The Lions’ defense has struggled all season, and that continued in this game, but that didn’t lead to production for Hall. He tallied just 32 rushing yards on 13 carries to go along with three receptions for 23 receiving yards in the 31-24 loss at Ford Field.

Making matters worse, Hall left on the opening drive of the fourth quarter due to an injury. The injury happened on a 2nd and goal play from Detroit's 4-yard line. After being tackled near the sideline, he immediately grabbed his leg and was evaluated by medical staff. He was ruled out for the rest of the game with a thigh/quad injury. Initial MRI showed no major tear or structural damage. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn later labeled Hall as week-to-week.

New York fell to 1-2 on the season with the loss.

David Montgomery (RB, Houston Texans)

David Montgomery and the Houston Texans are facing major difficulties, having now fallen to a record of 0-3 after losing a close one to division rival Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, 19-17. Montgomery's performance has considerably dropped since the team's first game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1; in his most recent two games, Montgomery has averaged only 21.5 rushing yards per game and has not managed to score a touchdown since his two-touchdown game in Week 1.

The Texans now have a very tough job on their hands if they are to make the playoffs, since historically only about 2.4 to 2.8 percent of teams that start the season with a record of 0-3 have qualified for the postseason since the NFL increased the number of teams in its playoff system in 1990.
