Iowa State is on its bye week, but that doesn't mean you should be on a bye week, though. Here are some of Week 7's top matchups that would be of keen interest to Cyclone fans.
Though it's a bye week for Iowa State football, there's still plenty of other college football games worth watching this weekend.
Besides, there's nothing wrong with a little stress-free Saturday, right? Jimmy Rogers and his team are probably enjoying the weekend after a competitive 3-3 start, and why wouldn't they? College football is the best sport this country has to offer, and even the men that play in it deserve to have a chance to sit on their couches all weekend.
Without further adieu, here are some of Week 7's top games that would be of keen interest to Cyclone fans:
No. 4 Ohio State (5-1) @ No. 5 Indiana (6-0)
Location: Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana
Time/TV: 11 a.m. on FOX
This is one of those games that deserves to be played under the lights, but Big Noon Kickoff won't allow that to happen. Jokes aside, this is going to be a really good football game and very well be the biggest home game in Indiana football history.
Kansas (2-3, 0-2) @ Kansas State (3-2, 0-2)
Location: Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas
Time/TV: 11 a.m. on FS1
This game isn't very appealing to the rest of the country, but since all of you are Big 12 junkies, it will be perfect to keep an eye on. Can Kansas win the Sunflower Showdown for the first time since 2008?
No. 6 Alabama (5-1, 3-1) @ No. 14 Tennessee (5-1, 2-1)
Location: Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee
Time/TV: 2:30 p.m. on ABC
Who doesn't love the Third Saturday in October? Dave Portnoy doesn't even know this is a rivalry, but I know some of you do. Kalen DeBoer is going to be in trouble if he loses this one.
Arizona State (3-2, 1-1) @ No. 10 Texas Tech (5-0, 2-0)
Location: Galaxy Stadium in Lubbock, Texas
Time/TV: 2:30 p.m. on FOX
This is another matchup that probably have some of you questioning my skills to put together a viewing guide, but any Big 12 fan right now knows how Texas Tech has struggled to put together a complete game yet this year. Arizona State's 2024 playoff berth feels like a century ago, but Kenny Dillingham always finds a way to produce the unexpected result.
No. 18 Oklahoma State (4-1, 2-0) @ No. 20 Houston (5-1, 2-1)
Location: TDECU Stadium in Houston, Texas
Time/TV: 6:30 p.m. on FOX
There's one more game that tops this list, but if you're looking for the best in-conference matchup of the weekend, it has to be this one in Houston. Willie Fritz has done an incredible job building this Cougar program into one of the Big 12's best, but will Houston fans actually show up? If I lived in the area, I would absolutely want to see Drew Mestemaker and a high-powered Oklahoma State offense in person.
No. 2 Notre Dame (6-0) @ No. 9 BYU (5-0)
Location: LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah
Time/TV: 6:30 p.m. on ABC
There's no need to sugarcoat it - this game is absolutely massive for the Big 12. A BYU win would instantly give this conference the national respect it has been looking for and also open the door for the league to have two teams in the CFP. Plus, no one likes Notre Dame.
