Iowa State has needed playmakers to keep the offense moving all season, and running back Aiden Flora has delivered memorable performances. The running back has demonstrated his ability to break away for explosive gains and contribute in multiple ways, making him a valuable asset for the Cyclones heading into the second half of the season.

Flora has given Iowa State football a reliable source of explosive plays during the first half of the 2026 season. The running back has shown that he can make an impact on the ground while providing the Cyclones with another option in the passing game. His performance has made him a player worth watching as Iowa State looks to improve its consistency.

Flora's biggest performance came against West Virginia, when he delivered a career-best rushing performance and helped Iowa State secure a 45-42 victory. He finished with 212 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 22 carries. Flora also threw two touchdown passes, showcasing his versatility and ability to create opportunities beyond the traditional running game.

The performance demonstrated why Flora can be a headache for opposing defenses to contain. His ability to turn routine attempts into explosive gains keeps defenses disciplined. When he finds space, he has the speed and vision to make opponents pay, while his passing ability gives the coaching staff another way to catch defenses off guard.

Flora also showed his potential against Bowling Green, rushing for 194 yards and two touchdowns. The performance highlighted his importance to Iowa State's offensive identity. Establishing the running game that can help the Cyclones control the tempo; this can create opportunities for quarterback Jaylen Raynor and keep the opposing defense from focusing on the passing game.

But there is still room for more improvement. Iowa State has experienced difficulties and losses during the first half of the season, including its matchup against BYU. In the game, Flora recorded 86 rushing yards on 17 carries but did not find the end zone. His individual production remains, but Iowa State needs more consistency across the offense to turn competitive performance into victories.

Grade: A

Flora's explosive rushing ability and contributions in the passing game have made him one of Iowa State's most exciting weapons. If he continues producing at a high level and the offense becomes more consistent around him, Flora could play an important role in determining how successful the Cyclones are in 2026.
