It's amazing the difference one week can bring in college basketball.
When we revealed our most recent list on Feb. 9, Iowa basketball was flying high. The Hawkeyes ran their winning streak to six after a Super Bowl Sunday triumph over Northwestern, but they haven't won since.
Iowa lost on the road at Maryland as a 10.5-point favorite on Wednesday, and followed that up with an embarrassing home beatdown at the hands of No. 13 Purdue on Saturday.
The Hawkeyes aren't out of the NCAA tournament picture, but the losses suddenly leave them closer to the bubble. Not only that, it also could affect Iowa's once-lofty position in these power rankings.
Keep reading to find out where the Hawkeyes land in our latest batch of Big Ten power rankings:
1. Michigan (24-1, 14-1)
Michigan trailed by 16 at Northwestern on Wednesday, but rallied in the second half to pull out a 12-point victory. That was the wake-up call the Wolverines needed, as they returned home and decimated UCLA by 30 points on Saturday.
The Big Ten is a top-heavy league this season, but Michigan is clearly the best team in the conference right now. Major tests at Purdue and against Duke on a neutral site in Washington D.C. await this week. Start clearing your calendar for those games.
2. Wisconsin (18-7, 10-4)
Greg Gard gets plenty of criticism from the Wisconsin faithful, but this may be one of his best coaching jobs yet. Nobody in the nation had a better week than the Badgers, who opened the week with a dramatic overtime win at Illinois and finished it by blowing out Michigan State on Friday.
Michigan still leads by three games in the Big Ten standings, but don't count Wisconsin out yet. Let's not forget that the Badgers are the Wolverines' only loss.
3. Purdue (21-4, 11-3)
Any concerns about this Purdue team have been silenced. This experienced team wasn't going to back down quietly, and it responded with an overtime win over Nebraska on Tuesday and a blowout win at Iowa on Saturday.
The Boilermakers are still very much in the Big Ten race, and they'll have a chance to make things interesting when Michigan comes to Mackey Arena tonight.
4. Illinois (21-5, 12-3)
Back-to-back overtime defeats hurt Illinois' Big Ten title hopes, but the Fighting Illini returned to their winning ways with a 20-point triumph over Indiana on Sunday. Kylan Boswell is back in the starting lineup after missing time due to injury, and that should help Illinois stay in the mix for the league crown.
The Illini will head west to Los Angeles to play USC and UCLA this week.
5. Nebraska (22-3, 11-3)
A tough stretch of games has bit Nebraska in the leg, but the Cornhuskers are still in a great position to be a top-3 seed in the NCAA tournament. Nebraska lost an overtime heartbreaker against Purdue on Tuesday, before coming back and demolishing Northwestern on Saturday.
The Huskers are still alive in the Big Ten race, but they might have to win out to even have a chance. Games at Iowa and home against Penn State are on the docket this week.
6. Michigan State (20-5, 10-4)
Michigan State's lone game of the week was a dud. The Spartans were overwhelmed from the start against a red-hot Wisconsin team and never recovered, losing in a 21-point rout.
Two get-right home games against UCLA and Ohio State should help MSU get back on track.
7. Iowa (18-7, 8-6)
Iowa had easily its worst week of the season, but contrary to what some of its fans think, the sky is not falling - yet. The Hawkeyes will have a huge chance to get back off the mat with games against Nebraska and Wisconsin on the schedule this week.
A split would be massive for Iowa's NCAA tournament hopes.
8. Indiana (17-9, 8-7)
Indiana took care of business on Monday against Oregon, but ran into the Illinois buzzsaw on Sunday. The Hoosiers would be in the NCAA tournament if the season ended today, but they still need quality wins to round out their resume.
Indiana has just one game on the schedule this week, and it's a big one at rival Purdue.
9. Ohio State (16-9, 8-6)
Ohio State is squarely outside of the NCAA tournament picture. The Buckeyes secured a big win over fellow bubble team USC on Wednesday, but couldn't hang on down the stretch and just missed out on a monster win over No. 15 Virginia on Saturday.
The silver lining for Ohio State? Two wins this week might push it into the field. The Buckeyes host Wisconsin tonight and travel to Michigan on Sunday.
10. USC (18-7, 7-7)
USC flopped in its only game of the week against Ohio State, but opportunity still awaits. The Trojans will host Illinois on Wednesday in what could be a ripe chance to catch the Illini on the first game of their West Coast trip.
The rest
11. UCLA (17-8, 9-5)
12. Washington (13-13, 5-10)
13. Minnesota (11-14, 4-10)
14. Rutgers (10-15, 3-11)
15. Maryland (10-15, 3-11)
16. Oregon (9-16, 2-12)
17. Penn State (10-16, 2-13)
18. Northwestern (10-16, 2-13)
