One Day for Iowa held its 10th annual fundraiser on March 25. See which athletic programs earned the most money during the event.
March 25 marked the University of Iowa's annual "One Day for Iowa" fundraising event.
Administered by the University of Iowa Center Advancement, the event celebrated its 10th year in 2026. According to The Daily Iowan, over $2.7 million was raised for 140 departments throughout the university, but one of the primary focuses of the event is to raise money for Iowa's various athletic teams.
Keep reading to find out which teams earned the most money this year.
Hawkeye Marching Band: $180,572
Anyone who has attended an Iowa football game inside Kinnick Stadium has seen the Hawkeye Marching Band perform, so it's not surprising to see HMB earn the most of any of the participating organizations. The band adds a special flare to football games, and the money raised from One Day for Iowa will certainly help them continue to entertain Hawkeye fans.
Iowa Women's Basketball: $98,801
Though it's failed to reach the second weekend of the NCAA tournament since Caitlin Clark's departure, Iowa women's basketball continues to generate strong fan support, leading to the program earning far and away the most money of any team.
Iowa Softball: 57,780
Coming in at No. 2 on the list this year was not football, not wrestling, not men's basketball, but softball. Iowa has struggled mightily over the last decade, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of softball fans willing to show their support.
Iowa Women's Wrestling: 57,608
Iowa women's wrestling is often overshadowed during the winter months, but it's been the most successful program in the entire athletic department since its inaugural campaign in 2023-24. The Hawkeyes didn't lose a single dual until the 2025-26 season, which includes consecutive national championships. Women's wrestling is just beginning to gain traction as an NCAA-sanctioned sport, so there's a lot of momentum on the mat.
Iowa Men's Basketball: $27,310
Speaking of momentum, no Hawkeye team has more of it than Iowa men's basketball. The Hawkeyes are fresh off a memorable run to the Elite Eight in Ben McCollum's first season, and it feels like Iowa is brewing something special for years to come.
Iowa Football: $11,504
Kirk Ferentz is back for his 28th season as Iowa football's head coach, and though his team may not have earned the most money during One Day for Iowa, they and every other program in the athletic department earns its fair share of donations throughout the year. A maiden trip to the College Football Playoff in 2026 could only help Ferentz and Co. earn more money.
