Anyone who knows me knows that I'm heavily against fall weddings. 

Why have a wedding during the sacred football season? It doesn't make sense to me, and I'm sure many of you agree. 

If you've experienced the unfortunate feeling of being invited to a wedding this fall, don't worry just yet because you now have the perfect excuse - attending an Iowa Hawkeye football game at Kinnick Stadium. 

On Wednesday, kick times for four of Iowa's regular season contests were announced. We'll give you a refresher in case you missed the release, but this article will be filled with my opinions about each start time on these matchups. 

Let's get into it. 

Sept. 5 vs. Northern Illinois: 3:15 p.m. on Big Ten Network (All times will be Central) 

Remember when Iowa's 2025 season-opener against lowly Albany was played under the lights? Primetime games at Kinnick Stadium are awesome for the fans, but the Hawkeyes' two non-conference home games against Albany and UMass prevented other important conference games (Minnesota, Oregon) from being played under the lights. 

I'm a big fan of the 11 a.m. season opener, but there's nothing wrong with an afternoon kick, either. This will offer plenty of time for you guys to tailgate before making your way into the stadium. 

Sept. 12 vs. Iowa State: 6:30 p.m. on NBC 

Man, is this one long overdue. I'm slightly biased since I've lived in Iowa my entire life, but the Cy-Hawk rivalry is easily one of the top rivalries in the sport. No matter how good each squad is, this game means so much to the state of Iowa. 

Iowa enters this game as a very early 12.5-point favorite, and adding a night game on top of it will only make that line go up. Nobody is sure what Iowa State will look like under new head coach Jimmy Rogers, and I don't think we'll know much after the Cyclones' Week 1 game against Southeast Missouri State. 

Believe it or not, this will be just the third time the Hawkeyes and Cyclones will meet under the lights at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa State rallied from 17 points down to hand Iowa its only regular season loss in 2002, but the Hawkeyes got revenge with a 42-3 beatdown in 2016. 

Iowa hasn't beaten Iowa State in three years, so expect Kinnick Stadium to be rocking for this one. 

Sept. 19 vs. Northern Iowa: 3:00 p.m. on FS1 

After missing the 2020 matchup due to COVID-19, Iowa and Northern Iowa finally get to play each other for the first time in eight years. That 2018 contest was played in primetime, but this one gets the afternoon slot. 

No complaints here. This could potentially open the door for Iowa's highly-anticipated game against Ohio State on Oct. 3 to be played under the lights. 

Nov. 27 vs. Nebraska: 11:00 a.m. on CBS 

Black Friday football during the day just feels right. I've attended/covered Hawkeye games at Kinnick Stadium since I was four years old, and I can confidently say the 2024 Iowa-Nebraska game was the coldest game I've ever experienced at Kinnick. 

Considering I was insulated in the warm press box for most of the game, I can't imagine how cold it was for some of you that had to watch all four quarters from the stands. 

The weather will likely be cold again this year, but there's nothing wrong with a nationally-televised game. The Hawkeyes have won 10 out of the last 11 meetings over the Cornhuskers. 

The rest of Iowa's kick times will be announced through the traditional 12-/6-day selection process. That means the kickoff times will be released either 12 or six days before game day and allows the networks to prioritize higher-profile games. 

The Hawkeyes' matchups against Minnesota and Wisconsin will fall under this formula, but we have an idea where each game could land. Per the release from Iowa athletics, the Floyd of Rosedale game (Oct. 24) in Minneapolis will start in between 2-7 p.m. CT, while the Wisconsin clash (Oct. 31) on Halloween in Iowa City will start no later than 4 p.m.
