The best offensive line in the country continues to hear its name called in the NFL Draft.
Beau Stephens, Iowa football's starting left guard, was selected by the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks with the 148th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Saturday. Stephens is the third member of the Hawkeyes' Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line to hear their name called in this year's draft, joining Gennings Dunker and Logan Jones.
Redshirting in 2021, Stephens earned playing time in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons, but didn't see major game action until 2024, where he started at left guard in 12 games and helped revive Iowa's old standard for terrific offensive line play.
The unit was named a semifinalist for the Joe Moore Award after the 2024 season, but everything came together for Stephens and Co. in 2025. Stephens started all 13 games of Iowa's 9-4 season at left guard, and his efforts earned him a First-Team All-Big Ten selection by the coaches and first-team All-American honors from Pro Football Focus, the Associated Press, and USA Today.
Stephens was also one of seven Hawkeyes to earn the Hayden Fry award on offense, which is given to the players that are good leaders throughout the season.
Stephens' strong character traits and consistent play could make him a valuable piece for the Seahawks in 2026 and beyond.
