McCollum will receive a new six-year extension, per ESPN's Pete Thamel.

The Des Moines Register already confirmed an extension for Iowa men's basketball coach Ben McCollum is in the works, and ESPN officially confirmed some of the details on Friday afternoon.

Per Pete Thamel and Jeff Borzello, McCollum is in the process of finalizing a new six-year extension with the university.

McCollum's current contract that he signed in March 2025 pays him $3.35 million per season along with bonuses for NCAA tournament runs and strong Academic Progress Ratings.

The Hawkeyes weren't expected to do much in the NCAA tournament in 2026, but they responded by going on a run for the ages, reaching the Elite Eight for the first time since 1987.

McCollum was paid an additional $150,000 as a result of this run and reportedly turned down several high-profile jobs in the weeks following the end of the season, including North Carolina.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
