Amani Hooker tallied a 92-yard interception return for Tennessee, while George Kittle scored his first touchdown of the year for San Francisco.
Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season is in the books, and like always, former Iowa football stars showed out under the bright lights.
Didn't catch much of the NFL action this weekend? Here were some of the best performances from former Hawkeyes in Week 2:
Lions Lose Shootout In Buffalo
Linebacker Jack Campbell and the rest of the Detroit defense knew it would have a tough time slowing down Josh Allen and a potent Buffalo offense, and whatever game plan they crafted wasn't effective. The Bills got anything and everything they wanted, totaling 446 total yards in the 41-31 win. Campbell tallied six tackles.
While the Lions couldn't stop anyone, the offense did its best to keep them in the game. Tight end Sam LaPorta turned in a solid game, recording six receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown.
Detroit dropped to 1-1 with the Thursday night loss.
Eagles Survive In The Music City
Survive and advance has been the name of Philadelphia's 2026 season so far. Despite basically playing in front of a home crowd during a road game against the Tennessee Titans, the Eagles needed a touchdown in the final seconds to win.
The defense wasn't perfect, but it was enough to get the win. Cornerback Cooper DeJean tallied five tackles in the victory. Though Tennessee suffered a heartbreaking defeat, safety Amani Hooker turned in a terrific performance, collecting six tackles and an interception in the loss. The interception came deep in the red zone, and Hooker ran it back 92 yards to set up the Titans' first score of the game.
The Eagles improved to 2-0 with the triumph, while the Titans fell to 0-2.
Niners Trounce Dolphins
San Francisco was expected to dominate a poor Miami team at home on Sunday, and it did just that, winning in a 35-13 rout that wasn't even that close. Offensive lineman Connor Colby helped pave the way for quarterback Brock Purdy to complete 20 of his 22 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns, while also another 30 on the ground.
One of Purdy's two touchdown passes was a 12-yard strike to tight end George Kittle, who led the 49ers with 80 yards on four receptions.
San Francisco improves to 2-0 on the young season.
Packers Rally In New York
Green Bay was in serious danger of falling to 0-2, but the Packers pulled a rabbit out of their hat and rallied from 10 down to beat the Jets inside a rainy MetLife Stadium. Outside linebacker Lukas Van Ness was a menace up front, recording a team-high 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks in the win, but he wasn't the only former Hawkeye to make an impact.
Running back Kaleb Johnson, who was traded to the Packers in the offseason, led Green Bay with 32 rushing yards on eight carries.
Broncos Bounce Back
After suffering an embarrassing Week 1 loss in Kansas City, Denver secured a much-needed comeback win over a good Jacksonville team in the Mile High City.
Cornerback Riley Moss collected two tackles and three pass break-ups, but his shining accomplishment was picking off Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence late in the third quarter. The play was a key turning point in the game, as the Broncos tied the game with a touchdown on the next drive and held on for a 20-13 victory.
