Ben McCollum's 2026-27 roster is almost complete.
It took over a week for Iowa men's basketball to make a splash in the portal, but last weekend marked the end of a prolonged wait for Hawkeye fans.
Illinois State transfer Ty'Reek Coleman dropped the first domino by committing to Iowa on Friday evening, and 7-foot-3 big man Andrew McKeever followed on Saturday.
RELATED STORY: Ben McCollum will get the best out of Ty'Reek Coleman
Not only did the Hawkeyes bolster their roster with two big-time additions, Ben McCollum and Co. also heard some good news on Saturday when 10 players from their 2026 Elite Eight roster announced they would return.
Continuity is a major plus in college athletics these days, and it makes the picture of Iowa's 2026-27 team very clear. As of April 20, the Hawkeyes have just one final roster spot remaining for another transfer or one more returner (more on that in a bit).
Without further adieu, here's where Iowa's 2026-27 roster stands:
Incoming Transfers
G Ty'Reek Coleman: Coleman fits the mold that McCollum is looking for - young, athletic, and scrappy. The Aurora, Illinois native has three years of eligibility left and is coming off of a freshman campaign where he averaged 10 points per game for an Illinois State squad that reached the NIT finals.
C Andrew McKeever: Size was Iowa's biggest weakness last year, and McCollum addressed that in a big way by landing the Saint Mary's transfer. McKeever led the West Coast Conference with nine blocks per game last season and helped the Gaels to a fifth straight NCAA berth.
Confirmed Returners
F Cam Manyawu (Senior in 2027)
F Cooper Koch (RS Sophomore in 2027)
G Kael Combs (Senior in 2027)
F Trey Thompson (RS Freshman in 2027)

G Tate Sage (Sophomore in 2027)

What will Iowa do with the last roster spot?
Iowa has plenty of options with this last spot. The Hawkeyes will likely go after another guard with the hopes that 6-foot-11 Trevin Jirak can emerge as a backup big man. If McCollum was feeling risky, he could take a massive gamble and hold out that Tavion Banks could return for a fifth season. The only way that happens is if Banks, who played two years of junior college ball, gets approved for a fifth year by the NCAA.
