It's been raining for the last two days in Iowa City, but that isn't stopping the Iowa baseball and softball programs from continuing their 2026 campaigns.
Head coach Rick Heller and his baseball club are flying high after a 21-8 blowout win at Bradley on Tuesday, while first-year head coach Stacy May-Johnson and her softball team look to rebound after a disappointing sweep at the hands of No. 16 Washington last weekend.

Baseball

Minnesota leads the overall series, 187-132. Iowa is 22-10 against the Gophers under Rick Heller and 13-2 since 2021.
Gable Mitchell and Caleb Wulf have tallied 89 hits, 48 RBIs and 55 runs. In 222 at bats, the duo has struck out only nine times.
Mitchell is the 7th hardest player to strike out in the nation (27.3) and is fourth in the Big Ten with a .394 batting average. He ranks 16th in the NCAA in hits (46) and 11th in hits per game (1.70).
Wulf leads the Big Ten with a .407 batting average and ranks as the 8th hardest player to strike out (22.6) in the NCAA.
The Hawkeyes ranks in the top 25 in the nation in eight categories. Oregon, the reigning Big Ten champions, enter the contest with a 26-9 overall record and a 7-2 mark in conference play. Head coach Melyssa Lombardi is in her eighth season at the helm of the Ducks and holds a 265-125 career record.
In the Big Ten Conference, Iowa ranks third in doubles (58), third in sacrifice flys (17) and fourth in stolen bases (35). Iowa has surpassed last season’s home run total (29) and now has 39 this season.
Avery Sapp recorded her 200th career strikeout in Friday’s win over Illinois. Freshman McKenzie Leitgen’s six home runs are the most by an Iowa freshman since 2015.
Leah McAnally is nine RBIs shy of 100 for her career. Serayah Neiss is one win shy of 50 for her career.
