HawkeyeRoundtable Publisher Brad Schultz shares his betting prediction for the Iowa-Washington game, including spread and total.

Prediction Friday normally ends after this article gets posted, but today is your lucky day because you get to experience the joy of reading HawkeyeRoundtable's weekly Iowa football game predictions on game day.

I've already shared my score prediction for Friday's game against Washington in Seattle, so now it's time to turn our attention to what the oddsmakers are saying. After looking at the sportsbooks, here is my betting prediction for the Iowa-Washington game.

The Line

Spread: Washington -3

Related stories

Total: 41.5

Moneyline: Iowa +130, Washington -155

This is about of a toss-up game as you can get. Though Iowa has the ranking next to its name, many people forget just how much talent Washington has. Injuries and inconsistent play to begin the season has likely dashed the Huskies' playoff hopes, but this is still a team more than capable of beating Iowa by double digits. But considering the Hawkeyes rarely get blown out and lost by 17 to Ohio State just last weekend, it makes sense that DraftKings is expecting a tight game in Seattle.

The Picks

Push -3: This is the first spread of the season that perfectly aligns with my final score prediction. I have Washington winning by three on a last second field goal, so this would result in our first push of the year.

Over 41.5: DK's total makes sense considered both of these teams have good defenses, but this feels like a weird spot where both teams are going to put up some points. Husky quarterback Demond Williams is very prone to turnovers, so that could help set up an Iowa touchdown if that happens, but it just feels like this is the game where the Hawkeyes break open a few long runs. I also think Jeremy Hecklinski (or Hank Brown if he plays) will sling the rock around to turn this into an old-fashioned West Coast scoring party.

Iowa -360 to tally 110+ rushing yards: The million-dollar question Hawkeye fans have about their team right now is the rushing attack. It wasn't expected to be a problem entering the year, but Iowa has averaged just over 60 rushing yards per game against Power Four competition this year - including 39 against Ohio State last weekend. Asking Jay Norvell's room to get things going in a tough road environment may be a tough ask, but as I've eluded to in this article and throughout the entire week, this feels like a good spot to see what South Dakota transfer L.J. Phillips Jr. can do. He's healthy now after suffering an ankle injury in Week 1 and has the strength and speed necessary to gain tough yards. I think Iowa can get to 110 rushing yards.
