There's a lot of local companies that would line up to use their logo on Iowa's iconic uniforms. Here are some that would be great fits.
CHICAGO - Beth Goetz doesn't do press conferences or breakout sessions very often, but when she does do them, there's always a ton of good information to hear from her.
Tuesday was no different, as Goetz met with the local media for a 15-minute breakout session during Iowa's session at the 2026 Big Ten Football Media Days in Chicago.
Goetz discussed many important topics, including the future of the Cy-Hawk game and the ever-changing landscape of college football.
One of the discussion points that came up during Goetz's session was if the Hawkeyes are planning to follow the growing trend of having a jersey sponsor.
Ohio State and Notre Dame are just a few of the notable programs to sign lucrative sponsorship deals over the last few days, so will Iowa, which signed a corporate partnership with John Deere that features the company's logo at the 25-yard line at Kinnick Stadium, follow suit?
Big Ten Commissioner Tony Petitti won't be pursuing a conference-wide sponsorship deal like the Big 12 did with Monster Energy, but he is encouraging each of the league's 18 teams to pursue their own deals.
Goetz has already turned Iowa's athletic department into a national machine, so you better believe she's already looking into this.
"I think it's really important that we take advantage of those opportunities to continue to generate revenue," Goetz said at Big Ten Media Days on July 28. "We want to make sure it aligns with a partner that is going to share our values and lift our brand."
But which companies could the Hawkeyes partner with? Here's a few likely options.
John Deere
There doesn't need to be an additional explanation for this one. Goetz is pleased with Iowa's ongoing partnership with John Deere, and it would only make sense for the company's branding to appear as a jersey patch. It would cost John Deere more money, but its got the inside track if it wants it.
Pancheros Mexican Grill
The popular burrito chain would be a great fit considering it's based in Coralville and already has an existing advertising relationship with UI athletics, most notably as the sponsor of the traditional "Burrito Lift" that takes place during every Hawkeye home game at Kinnick Stadium.
Hy-Vee
I apologize for staying on the food track, but this one is too obvious not to include. Hy-Vee is based in nearby West Des Moines and has many locations in the Iowa City metro area. The grocery store chain also is a regular advertiser at Iowa sporting events, with its logo always being featured on the sides of the scorer's table at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Farm Bureau
Whenever the Hawkeyes host their annual ANF Black and Gold Spirit Game at Kinnick each year, Farm Bureau is always at the forefront of it. The insurance company is the title sponsor of the contest (played against Ohio State this season), and runs a ticket giveaway that allows winners to receive on-field passes for the game.
Could the company expand its partnership with Iowa and be featured on a jersey patch? It's very possible.
