Welcome back to our countdown to the 2026 Iowa football season!
Since May 28, we've been counting down the final 100 days until the Hawkeyes swarm out of the Kinnick Stadium tunnel for their season opener against Northern Illinois on Sept. 5.
Each day of the countdown has primarily featured an article profiling one of the current members of the 2026 Hawkeyes based on their jersey number. Loyal readers already know how this works by now, but if you're just now catching your football fix and tuning in, this is how this goes down: if a player wears No. 22 and we're 22 days from kickoff, then that's the player we're going to be taking a look at.
We've had to occasionally go a different route because Iowa doesn't issue a jersey number for every single day of this countdown, but we shouldn't have much of a problem with that as we head into the final days before kickoff.
We're now under the two-week mark from Iowa returning to action, which is 13 days. That means it's time to take a look at the man who wears No. 13 - defensive end Drew Campbell.

Other notable players to wear No. 13: A notable Hawkeye to wear No. 13 is former wide receiver Ramon Ochoa. Ochoa played for Iowa from 2000-2003 and helped usher the Hawkeyes' first rebuild under Kirk Ferentz, collecting six touchdowns during his senior season.
Campbell's Career So Far
Campbell hasn't seen much game action across his two years as a Hawkeye so far, but if name recognition is a good sign of someone's potential, then Campbell has exactly that.
His older brother, Jack, was a standout linebacker for the Hawkeyes from 2019-2022, collecting 118 tackles and winning the Butkus Award as the nation's best linebacker during his senior campaign. Jack was selected 18th overall by the Detroit Lions in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he's continued his success in the pros, earning Pro Bowl honors last year.
But what about Drew? He carved out a successful career for himself at Cedar Falls High School, tallying 64 tackles and six sacks as a senior while also earning first-team All-State honors.
Ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 5 player in Iowa by 247Sports composite, Campbell held college offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Kansas, and others, but chose to follow in his brother's footsteps and play for the Hawkeyes.
Though he hasn't played much, Campbell could benefit from a wide-open defensive line room if he proves himself in fall camp.
