Welcome back to our countdown to the 2026 Iowa football season!
Since May 28, we've been counting down the final 100 days until the Hawkeyes swarm out of the Kinnick Stadium tunnel for their season opener against Northern Illinois on Sept. 5.
Each day of the countdown has primarily featured an article profiling one of the current members of the 2026 team based on their jersey number. As you've probably seen if you've been a loyal reader, that's not always possible, though.
On the off chance we don't have a current player's jersey number that fits our countdown, we go the historical route and take a look at a famous player who wore the number or take a look at a notable game that applies to the 2026 season.
Today marks 32 days until kickoff, which means it's time to take a look at the man who wears No. 32 - defensive lineman Sawyer Jezierski.

Year: First-Year
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 285 pounds
Other notable players to wear No. 32: A recognizable Hawkeye to wear No. 32 is former running back Brandon Wegher. The Sioux City native played only one season in Iowa City (2009), but he earned a freshman program record of eight rushing touchdowns and scored the game-sealing touchdown in Iowa's 2010 Orange Bowl victory.
Jezierski's career so far
Jezierski is entering his first year of college football, but his high school resume was very impressive. Minnesota is filled with a deep pool of major college talent, especially at some of the large high schools located in the Twin Cities.
Jezierski played his high school ball right in the thick of this region in Edina - just southwest of downtown Minneapolis. While Edina is known for its boys hockey squad, Jezierski and Co. made sure to make the football team relevant, too.
Edina won 27 games during Jezierski's four years there, but the shining achievement for both Jezierski and the Hornets was the 2025 campaign. Jezierski had a dominant individual performance, tallying 20 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and one strip sack.
Jezierski's 52 tackles for loss during his career is an Edina school record, and to top it off, the Hornets were state champions in 2025 - the school's first state football title since 1978.
Jezierski was listed as a three-star recruit and the No. 8 player in Minnesota by 247Sports. He received offers from Kansas State, Boston College, Iowa, Washington State, and others before committing to the Hawkeyes in June 2025.
Jezierski probably won't see much action as a first-year in 2026, but considering he's in the record books at Edina, it may not be surprising to see him be a key contributor down the road.
