Since May 28, we've been counting down the final 100 days until the Hawkeyes swarm out of the Kinnick Stadium tunnel for their season opener on Sept. 5.

Today marks 60 days until kickoff, so that means it's time to take a look at the man who wears No. 60 - offensive lineman Lucas Allgeyer.

High School: Mary Institute & St. Louis Country Day School
Year: Redshirt Freshman
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 300 pounds
Other notable players to wear No. 60: He only played one season in Iowa City, but a notable name to wear No. 60 in recent years is former left guard Rusty Feth. Best known for his fitting offensive lineman-esque name, the Miami (OH) transfer started nine games for the 2023 Hawkeyes at left guard.
Allgeyer's career so far
Allgeyer saw action in just one game during his freshman season - the 47-7 beatdown of UMass in Week 3 - before taking a redshirt year. He still has four more years of eligibility remaining, so offensive line coach George Barnett and Co. will have plenty of time to develop him for 2027 and beyond.
Though he might not see the field for awhile, Allgeyer brings an solid resume to Iowa City. He was a three-time all-Metro Conference honoree for Mary Institute & St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS), recording 61 tackles during his senior campaign for the independent school.
Allgeyer was named a three-star recruit by 247Sports and committed to the Hawkeyes over offers from Nebraska, Minnesota, Michigan State, Washington, and others.
Allgeyer's decision to play for Iowa wasn't a surprise considering he has a strong family connection to Hawkeye athletics. His uncle Ken, was an offensive lineman for Hayden Fry, while his cousin, Nick, was a standout baseball pitcher for Iowa. Nick was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 12th round of the 2018 MLB Draft.
