The South Dakota prospect brings a ton of hype with him to Iowa City.
Welcome back to our countdown to the 2026 Iowa football season!
Since May 28, we've been counting down the final 100 days until the Hawkeyes storm out of the Kinnick Stadium tunnel for their season opener against Northern Illinois on Sept. 5.
Each day of the countdown will primarily feature an article profiling a current member of the team based on their jersey number, but we've been known to mix it up a little bit if there isn't a player wearing the jersey number that falls on the respective day of the countdown.
Today marks 70 days until kickoff, so that means it's time to take a look at the man who wears No. 70 - offensive lineman Hudson Parliament.

Hometown: Brandon, South Dakota
High School: Brandon Valley High School
Year: Freshman
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 320 pounds
Other notable players to wear No. 70: You don't have to look very far to find a recognizable Hawkeye who wore No. 70. The name we're talking about here is none other than former offensive lineman Beau Stephens. Stephens was a standout guard and played a major role in the offensive line resurgence under coach George Barnett, earning first team All-Big Ten honors for his performance during the 2025 season. Stephens was selected in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.
Parliament's career so far
Iowa's 2026 recruiting class is loaded with offensive lineman, and Parliament adds plenty of skill to this talented group. Though there's not a ton of major college talent in the state of South Dakota, Parliament quickly rose to the top, resulting in 247Sports naming him a four-star recruit and the No. 1 player from the state in the Class of 2026 through its composite rankings.
FCS powerhouse South Dakota State was the first to offer Parliament, but Iowa, Kansas State, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa State, and others would soon follow. Barnett and then-special teams coordinator LeVar Woods' recruitment would eventually convince Parliament, however, and he committed to the Hawkeyes in January 2025.
Parliament will likely learn under some of Iowa's most experienced lineman like Trevor Lauck and Kade Pieper in 2026, but he, along with the rest of the lineman in his freshman class, are names to keep an eye on in the future.

- Squat: 555 pounds
- Dead lift: 650 pounds
- Clean: 335 pounds
- Broad jump: 10 feet
- 40-yard dash: 5.1 seconds
- Box jump: 48 inches
