Mitchell spoke to the media after Iowa's 6-5 victory on May 2. Here's a portion of what he said.

Question: What do you feel like kind of been going right over the last few weeks?

Obviously, like, results wise, I mean, it's been feeling pretty good. I think it's just guys kind of started to just let loose. I mean, there was obviously a point in the season where things weren't going very good, but once you realize, like, you should play free, play for the right reasons, play for each other, you know, you can go on a run. And obviously last two weekends have been great so far. And obviously a sweep tomorrow would be huge, but it's just playing for each other, and we feel like we've done a good job of doing that all year. It's just now we're getting some more results, and so let's hope to see that carry the rest of the way.

Illinois makes a run there, like it's a couple of runs. They talk about Heller ball. They tried to out Heller ball, you guys. Is that one of those things where team just can't do that to you? You're gonna find a way to stop it?

I mean, we have instinctual players, and I don't know if we actually designed the play to be exactly like that, Caleb [Wulf] stepped up, got the ball, made a good throw, and got the out. And obviously that's big.

Last home series for you. Has it kind of hit yet that this is one of your final games here at this stadium?

Obviously, like, I've thought of it, but I try not to, like, let it, I guess, emotionally affect me too much, just because, I've had a lot of great memories here. I want to keep it going, but we got a lot of work to do, though, after this season, so I'm not, I'm not too focused. Not too focused on on that too much. But, yeah, I mean, once, once I maybe recognize, like, Hey, I'm not playing at banks anymore it might settle in a little bit, but for now, it's just sticking to playing hard, and that's all I can do.

I think you've won five out of eight Big Ten series. What does that mean? It seems like you guys are peaking at the right time.
