After a strong start, the Colorado Buffaloes were blown out by the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Some are questioning if it's the beginning of the end for coach Deion Sanders aka Coach Prime

It's been almost four years since the Colorado Buffaloes made NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders their splash hire as football coach.

Sanders has accomplished plenty. He coached a Heisman Trophy winner in Travis Hunter. He helped his son, Shedeur, make the NFL. He's also made the Buffaloes program must-see TV because of his antics.

Despite all that, Sanders hasn't produced many wins. And Saturday's 29-7 loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders may cause some to question if he is the right man for the job to turn the program into a constant winner.

It's not like losing to Red Raiders was necessarily a bad thing. They are the defending Big 12 champions. But some would say Sanders has failed to meet expectations. He is just 18-23 in three-and-a-half seasons. After going a promising 9-4 in 2024, he went 3-9 last year and is 2-3 this season.

The Buffaloes have to determine if they are willing to put up with Sanders' mediocrity while also dealing with the intense spotlight he brings. It is definitely a situation to monitor.

IS BAYLOR A TEAM TO WATCH?

The Baylor Bears had one of the most impressive victories of the weekend with their 55-19 win against the Arizona State Sun Devils. After taking an 11-point lead in the half, the Bears turned it on in the second half by outscoring the opposition 31-6. At 3-1, they could be a team to watch the rest of the season.

WAS CINCINNATI FOOL'S GOLD?

One of the biggest surprises in the Big 12 was the way the Cincinnati Bearcats played in their 34-7 loss to the Arizona Wildcats, who dominated the game throughout. It shocked so many because the Bearcats looked so good in the second half of their 31-26 win at home against the Kansas State Wildcats. Maybe the Bearcats just overachieved against K-State? Or maybe the Wildcats are for real this season?

MOUNTAINEERS FALL FROM UNBEATEN RANKS

The West Virginia Mountaineers have nothing to hang their heads about after falling 45-42 to the Iowa State Cyclones. The Mountaineers rallied from a two-touchdown deficit and thought they had it won after scoring a touchdown with a little more than five minutes remaining.

The hopes of improving to 4-0 ended with a short touchdown run by Iowa State running back Aiden Flora with under two minutes left. Regardless, expect the Mountaineers to remain in the hunt in what is shaping to be a tough Big 12 conference this season.
