Felix Anudike-Uzomah had a strong showing in the Kansas City Chiefs' opener against the Denver Broncos
Ex-Kansas State Wildcats star Felix Anudike-Uzomah appears finally ready to have an impact in the NFL.
After an injury-filled start to his career, he is drawing praise among the Kansas City Chiefs coaches and players. He opened the season with one tackle in Monday's season opener against the Denver Broncos.
“I made a joke that he took it back to his K-State days," said Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton, who played for the Missouri Tigers. I was really proud of him. It paid dividends for us in this game."
Anudike-Uzomah was the No. 31 pick in the 2023 draft after winning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors his last season with the Wildcats. He played in all 34 games during his first two seasons but made just three starts. Last year he missed the entire season because of a hamstring injury.
So it appears Anudike-Uzomah is back to full strength and ready to take things to the next level.
KANSAS STATE OFFER 2028 DEFENSIVE LINEMAN
Kansas State Wildcats coach Collin Klein is focused on the current roster but it's never too early to start thinking about the future.
The Wildcats recently offered a scholarship to defensive lineman Robert Brown out of Effingham County High School in Springfield, Ga. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound Brown isn't rated yet by any scouting services but is only a member of the 2028 recruiting class.
He already has offers from the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida State Seminoles and Georgia Bulldogs.
WILDCATS GOING FOR UNDEFEATED NON-CONFERENCE SEASON
The Wildcats are attempting to complete an undefeated non-conference schedule. They face the Tulane Green Wave Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Last year the Green Wave was a participant in the College Football Playoff. In the last meeting in 2024, the Wildcats hung on for a 34-27 victory in New Orleans.
The Wildcats are coming off two impressive victories to start the season. They opened with a 71-3 win against the Nicholls Cowboys. That was followed by a 34-7 win against the Washington State Cougars.
The K-State defense has yet to give up a touchdown this season.
