PJ Haggerty is officially out.

I mean, it wasn't like the star guard was coming back to Kansas State anyway, but this officially seals the loss. Haggerty committed to Texas A&M on Friday afternoon. He averaged 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists last season.

You'd have to imagine such a dynamic player would get looks from nearly every available team in the country. Haggerty was the nation's third-leading scorer during the regular season, trailing only AJ Dybantsa and Cameron Boozer. He was anticipated to help lead the Wildcats back to postseason glory, along with Abdi Bashir Jr., Nate Johnson, and Khamari McGriff.

Well, that didn't happen. In fact, Kansas State had its most miserable season in years, winning just three Big 12 games with multiple blowout losses. Combined with Jerome Tang's press conferences growing increasingly tense and unjustifiable, the Wildcats released Tang and ended the season on an extremely sour note. Haggerty held his own as a top scorer, but without the conference wins to back his resume, it was pretty much a lost season.

"I would say it was an up-and-down season, but we just didn't quit," Haggerty said in his season-ending postgame interview. "We faced a lot of adversity, but in the end, we just all stayed together. We just played, had fun, and were with each other every day. We grinded. I’m glad to have finished it with them."

He withdrew from the 2025 NBA Draft to develop his game, but didn't add much to his profile. Some stellar 30-point performances, second-half explosions, and clutch moments, but there was also a lot that hurt his case. Haggerty often started games extremely slowly with multiple single-digit first halves. He turned the ball over a lot and didn't ascend to the point guard he wanted to be.

Still, Haggerty remains one of the most consistent bucket-getters in college basketball. He will join an Aggies team that was sixth in the SEC last season, falling to Houston in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. They recently lost sharpshooter Ruben Dominguez to Xavier, and senior guard Pop Isaacs has entered the portal as well. Haggerty's addition will be huge to the offensive punch as a three-level scorer.
