The Kansas State Wildcats have their depth chart set for the first season under coach Collin Klein

There's not much suspense left for the Kansas State Wildcats.

Earlier this week, the depth chart was released. The only thing left now is waiting for the season opener Saturday against Nicholls at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

The question is how solid is this depth chart and will it hold up all season. Let's take a look:

QUARTERBACK

Related stories

QB1: Avery Johnson

QB2: Jacob Knuth or Blake Barnett

Will it hold up: The Wildcats better hope so. The fact Klein couldn't pick a clear No. 2 is an indication.

WIDE RECEIVER

WR1s: Jaron Tibbs, Brandon White, Josh Manning

WR2s: Adonis Moise, Izaiah Williams, Derrick Salley Jr.

Will it hold up: Most likely These are the Wildcats' three most experienced receivers.

RUNNING BACK

RB1: Joe Jackson or Jay Harris or Rodney Fields

RB2: Joe Jackson or Jay Harris or Rodney Fields

Will it hold up: This is probably the most shocking. It looked like Jackson had this spot locked up but the Wildcats feel they have three capable running backs.

TIGHT END

TE1: Garrett Oakley or Will Anciaux or Linkon Cure

TE2: Garrett Oakley or Will Anciaux or Linkon Cure

Will it hold up: Another shocker but Oakley is still the guy unless Cure becomes the game-breaker many are expecting at some point in his career.

OFFENSIVE LINE

LT1: Ryan Howard

LG1: Charlie Adams or Tanner Morley

C1: Dylan Villarouel

RG1: Kelton Jones

RT1: Gus Hawkins

LT2: Tyler Johnson

LG2: Chase Duarte

C2: Michael Capria

RT2: Delvin Morris

Will it hold up: Barring injury, this is likely it. Expect Tyler Johnson to join the mix once he recovers from injury.

CORNERBACKS

CB1: Zashon Rich

CB1: Kaleb Patterson

NB1: JoJo Scott

CB2: Garrick Dixon

CB2: Damion Miller

NB2: Nick McClellan or Michael Graham

Will it hold up: Most likely. Scott was one of the hardest workers in the spring and training camp

SAFETY

FS: Wesley Fair or Koy Beasley

SS: Logan Bartley

FS2: Ja'Son Prevard

Will hold up: Surprised to see Beasley listed alongside Fair and Prevard as the backup. This could likely change later (or early) in the season.

LINEBACKERS

MLB1: Mekhi Mason

WLB1: Gabe Powers

MLB2: Rex Van Wyhe or Asa Newsom

WLB2: Weston Polk

Will it hold up: Somewhat surprised by Van Wyhe but Powers has made great strides

EDGE

EDGE1: Wendell Gregory

EDGE1: Jordan Allen

EDGE2: Darien Whitaker

EDGE2: Jayden Bryant

Will it hold up: This could be a solid rotation. The starting lineup may change at times.

DEFENSIVE TACKLES

DT1: Kamari Burns

DT1: Travis Bates

DT2: Eli Jackson

DT2: Austin Ramsey

Will it hold up: This is solid but Jackson emerge.

KICKER

K1: Luis Rodriguez

K2: Robert Hammond III

Will it hold up: For sure.

PUNTER

P1: Simon McClannan

P2: Dylan Davidson

Will it hold up: As expected

RETURNERS

KR1: Jay Harris

PR1: Brandon White

KR2: Sterling Lockett

PR2: Max Lovett

Will it hold up: As long as there are no turnovers. But keep an eye on Lockett

LONG SNAPPER

LS1: Andrew Johnson

LS2: Jaxson Duffield or Sam Dolphens

Will it hold up: Just like the return game, long as there are no mistakes
