Kansas State's Collin Klein continues to build his 2027 class.
The latest commitment was from Canaan Smith, an interior lineman from Plano, TX, who attends Prestonwood Christian Academy. He also received offers from Baylor, Iowa State, TCU, and Vanderbilt.
"A long time coming, this path was paved by the Lord, and I owe it all to him," Smith tweeted Monday evening. "Proverbs 3:6...Through prayer and faith in Christ, I have decided that the program Coach Klein intends to run is where I want to make my home for this next step in my journey. No other program in the nation will be run with the same values as those of Coach K! Thank you so much, Coach Klein and Coach Schmidt, for this amazing opportunity. I can't wait to put on the pads and be the 5th of my family to be a Wildcat!!"
His father, Jeff Smith, also played offensive lineman for the Wildcats in 1991 and 1992. He then served as an assistant in multiple roles, including offensive line coach, strength coach, and administrator.
KANSAS STATE CO-DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR MAY DEPART TO OLE MISS
As Kansas State coach Collin Klein plans to move forward with his staff, an integral part may be on the move soon.
Co-defensive coordinator Marcus Woodson has been tied to Ole Miss, per reports.
"Ole Miss is targeting Kansas State co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson for a role on its defensive staff," CBS Sports insider Matt Zenitz tweeted. "Before being hired at Kansas State, Woodson worked most recently for teams like Arkansas, Florida State, and Auburn."
Woodson has two decades of coaching experience, including much within the SEC. He talked about joining the Wildcats defensive staff after working with defensive coordinator Jordan Peterson and meeting coach Klein.
"It's about relationships with Coach Peterson, Coach Klein, and the whole defensive staff," Woodson said in his opening presser. "Coach Peterson and I were on the same staff 11 years ago, and we kept a relationship between then and now. We agreed that whenever we were in a position to hire each other, we would. So here I am. I got to know Coach Klein, and it felt like we knew each other for years. I've had a lot of respect for this program from afar for a long time."
