Well, the scenario we pictured is happening in real time.

As Casey Alexander settles into his head coaching role at Kansas State, his former Belmont assistants and players are expected to follow. The first was Devin Hutcherson, a three-star wing who previously committed to the Bruins but left after Alexander departed. Hutcherson is a 2026 class prospect based in Atlanta, GA, currently attending Holy Innocents Episcopal School.

He averaged 19.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals last season, a career year for his high school tenure. Kansas State wants to rebuild its roster after Jerome Tang's departure, which will lead to some of his star players exiting in turn. Hutcherson is a great start, giving the Wildcats the forward depth they need. This position was a huge necessity last year, as Kansas State lost its rotational players due to injury. An already-small frontcourt was only worsened by the lack of bodies as the year developed.

Alexander wants to regroup as many familiar faces as possible to establish some chemistry and execute his vision.

"It’ll be a mixture of the guys that were with me at Belmont, but several new faces as well," Alexander said in his opening radio interview. "I think we need to broaden. We gotta have some more experience at this level, and that’s a given. We’ll have a really good staff, and one thing they’ll be is like-minded. We'll all be on the same page and pulling in the same direction, and all about the same thing. So they'll love everything I’ve already seen about K-State when they get here."

Alexander knows how prominent an addition this will be, as evidenced by his words from Hutcherson's previous commitment to Belmont.

"Devin brings a level of athleticism and explosiveness that will be impactful," Alexander said upon his commitment to Belmont. "Physically and athletically, he's ready-made for conference play."

Keep an eye out for others to follow. Former Belmont stars Tyler Lundblade and Drew Scharnowski have also departed from the program after Alexander left. These two would be great players for Kansas State to inherit, as well as recent pieces for Alexander to work with more easily.
