Josh Vilmael, a cornerback out of Texas, is one the Kansas State Wildcats' top recruits for the 2027 class
The Kansas State Wildcats are compiling one of the best recruiting classes for 2027 in the Big 12 under first-year Collin Klein.
The Wildcats have three four-star recruits, led by cornerback Joshua Vilmael, who plays at William B. Travis High School in Texas. He recently gave K-State fans a look at what they should expect when he arrives next season by posting a highlight reel through his first five games.
From the looks of it, the Wildcats are getting not only a solid cover corner but also an athlete who could contribute on special teams as a return man.
Take a look for yourself below:
The Wildcats love every down players who can also contribute on special teams, especially on defense. K-State legend Terrence Newman was one of those guys when he dominated during the early 2000s. Newman turned that explosive play into becoming a first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2003. He was the No. 5 pick.
This isn't saying Vilmael is the next Newman but he possesses that ability to impact games on defense and as a return man. Versatility is perhaps Vilmael's best asset.
At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, he also has size on his side to make it difficult on opposing receivers. The Wildcats feel they have one of the best athletes in the country arriving on campus next fall.
While the hype is nowhere near that of when tight end Linkon Cure signed two years ago, there is a similar feel. Cure was being recruited nearly major school in the country before deciding on the Wildcats. He became the first five-star recruit in Kansas State history.
Cure has gotten off to a slow start, mainly because the Wildcats are loaded at tight end, but he has plenty of time left to develop. It could be a similar process for Vilmael once his collegiate career begins.
Here is a look at Kansas State's current 2027 class:
