Another day, another four-star offer for Kansas State in its 2028 class.
The latest was Cayden Lancelin, a four-star athlete who primarily plays wide receiver and free safety. Lancelin currently attends Westgate High School in New Iberia, LA, the same school as another recent Wildcats offeree.
"Blessed and honored to receive an offer from Kansas State University," Lancelin tweeted on Monday.
Wide receiver would be an ideal position target for Kansas State, given that most of the projected stars in the current corps are upperclassmen. We'll see how the receivers shape up this year and in 2027, but it's an optimal focus anyway. The Wildcats will be transitioning to a new quarterback next season, so getting good support around him will help the transition.
Here are the other recent major offers the program has made:
Chance Archangel, Edge Rusher
The Wildcats offered four-star edge rusher Chance Archangel on Monday. He currently attends Westgate High School in New Iberia, LA. The Wildcats are up against some stiff competition, though, as the defensive end also received offers from schools like Houston, Texas, LSU, and Alabama. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 136 player in the nation, including the 12th-best at his position.
Kansas State's current projected top two edge rushers, Elijah Hill and Wendell Gregory, will both be true sophomores in their first seasons at Kansas State. The hope is that they break out as stars and stick around the program for years to come. However, as evidenced by the recent transfer portal window, stars come and go. Edge rusher was perhaps the Wildcats' strongest position last season despite the disappointing year.
Oscar Sloan, Quarterback
Kansas State football has been busy establishing one of the top 2027 class units in the country, and the program is extending that effort to the 2028 class as well. The Wildcats extended an offer to four-star quarterback Oscar Sloan on Sunday. Sloan attends Center Grove High School in Greenwood, IN.
Sloan has also received offers from Cincinnati, Iowa, and Illinois, among others. Last season, he threw for 1,689 yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The Wildcats have to start anticipating the future at the position with Avery Johnson on the way out. Klein says the quarterback battle hasn't really made any strides in spring ball thus far.
