Michael Beasley was on top of the world during his Kansas State tenure, poised for a great NBA career and a promising future.

It's been the opposite since he left Manhattan, KS. Mental health struggles, legal issues, off-court tragedies, and inconsistency derailed his career, leading to many unfortunate circumstances because of it. The latest tale was on Club Shay Shay, revealing to Shannon Sharpe Beasley that he was homeless at a point in his career.

"I was sleeping outside," Beasley said on the Apr. 22 episode. "My friend, I don’t hold him responsible, because he would call me and tell me, ‘Dawg, come sleep on my couch.’ We all love elephants at the zoo, but if he were to come to your house and it smells like it, you’re not gonna want him there anymore. I understand how big I was from an early age, so I don’t put my burdens on my friends. I just let them help me."

Beasley played at Kansas State from 2007-08, but one season was all he needed. He was one of the best players in the country, averaging 26.1 points and 12.4 rebounds. The Miami Heat selected him with the second overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.

Unfortunately, Beasley's career never fully took off, and he became a journeyman instead of the star he was anticipated to be. He's boasted tenures with teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, and Houston Rockets, but only had short tenures instead of long-term success.

Luckily, he's been able to rebound in his post-NBA career by continuing to play basketball at a competitive level. Beasley has been in the BIG3 basketball league since 2022, winning the championship in 2025 with Miami 305.
